What is the Softest Feeling Milled Blade?

Past or present- what would you consider to be the “softest” feeling milled blade you’ve ever used? Carbon? Deep milled face? Do you still use it?

I have had some of the Mizuno/Betti Black Carbon series putters and have a Studio Stock #8.

Do I still roll one? Yes, the Studio Stock is still in the rotation.

My old carbon steel Circa 62 feels very soft. Also my new Maltby carbon PTM-1 is soft as butter, love it.

in general, I have found carbon steel to be softer feeling than stainless.  on top of that, deeper milling also creates a softer feel

I agree the Bettinardi F.I.T. face on carbon is the softest I've rolled, and even on stainless, it's pretty soft.

I have Mizuno Betti BC4 in the quiver.

In general any carbon steel putter is going to feel softer/more muted than stainless in my experience.

I have a Mizuno TP Mills Workshop II and a Tour Issue TP Mills ( David ) oilcan carbon Soft Tail that are pretty soft feeling as well, but not as soft as the Bettinardi F.I.T. Face.

2 standouts of mine that have a milled face:

 

Odyssey Black Series Tour Designs 8 (I'd say it's a medium milling, but I have others of similar depth that don't feel as good. Has a more muted sound.)

 

Never Compromise Robusto (Milling isn't deep, but the sound is deep)

The Cleveland TA Milled I have is among the softest carbon steel putters I've ever owned. I'll never sell it, too hard to find and too good of a flat stick.

My ptm-4 was the softest I had used too. If my sub70 001 flow neck doesn't work out I'm buying another one

The mizuno mcraft line (havent tried the OMOI yet) is very soft feeling. They have a very deep and sharp milling pattern on the face.

The FIT Face has changed year to year so feel does vary a bit but: 

 

2020 Inovai 6.0 and 7.0

2017 Studio Stock 3

Kuchar Model 1 

2013 Studio Stock 15

 

Then lots of Hive models, can find lots of BB0's with the FIT Face.

I have a Mizuno Bettinardi BC6 which is carbon w FIT face but didn’t find it particularly soft…felt softer with a softer ball but my recent Scotty Studio Select with skim milled face feel softer than the FIT face…I mean the Bettinardi large honeycomb is definitively on the very other end of the spectrum and that is why I sold mine

I'm not including the Mizuno ones in that. Honestly a few other Bettinardi FIT faces should be excluded too like the 2013.

33/350 oilcan aop Cameron .  And it’s not close.   That thick face with no cutout cavity is just like hitting a marshmallow with a pillow.

Seems like you already know what makes for a soft milled putter.

 

I agree with the replies:

 

1: Bettinardi with the FIT or Roll Control Face (RCF) is the softest you’ll find, probably by far. Extremely soft regardless of material (but yes, carbon = softest).

 

2: The 2022 Toulon’s (deep diamond milling). I’d be surprised if you can find a softer 303stainless steel putter (excluding the FIT/RCF Betti’s of course)

I have a lot of old school blade styles, and by far the best feeling are old TP Mills (by Truett) and Scotty Coronados (mid 90's).  Soft carbon (1018), no inserts, light head weight, are the keys to the feel IMHO.

A lot of people have said it already but I still remember how soft those Mizuno/Bettinardi putters were with the FIT face milling. Crazy soft for a non insert putter.

The Hogan Bettinardi's are as well.
