2.c(3) - Neck Length Measurement

The measurement of the length of a neck should be made in the same way as a bend in the bottom of a shaft (see Section 2a and Figure 16).

The majority of necks are designed to have the shaft inserted into them, and this normally avoids any confusion as to where the neck begins. However, if the neck is inserted into the shaft, the measurement should be taken from the end of the shaft.

Figure 18 contains diagrams of various neck features which would not be permitted.

I mostly agree. But Tiger used an illegal long neck Scotty to win his first pga event.. so it can happen.

Agree it’s possible. I have a longneck Newport that was a custom build around the time tigers longneck from Disney event was made…. It measures to the mm on the legal line but it’s very hard to know exactly where to measure from.   The necks all kind of slant backwards a hair.   I see mine as legal. But I’d say an official who wanted to call it illegal could easily measure it as a mm too long.  It’s a weird rule that I don’t think we will ever see enforced as long as it’s close.
