I didn't know this is a weed... well, if that's the case, what's to stop us from growing dandelions on greens? 😆  (yes nonsensical stuff but I’m trying to add some humor)

The hardest Green I've played on was Primo Zoysia grass at Avalon Country Club in Lenoir City...

It felt like a Scouring Pad.  Very weird.. but very durable..

Some of the zoysia varieties are great for durability and ease of use.  The 1300 series zoysia doesn't develop a grain so it rolls true in both directions.  Plus the durability through the seasons is a plus.

I get what people are saying but I wonder if anyone will WD from USWO due to the greens and/or the wind (if it is up)?  Hit the ball, go find the ball, hit it again, and try to take fewer shots than all of your competitors.

I wouldn't expect to see WD's for those reasons.  Pebble's greens don't seem to change as much during the day as courses in Southern Cal where the sun is more prevalent.  The coastal cover keeps the sun down most of the day.  The exception is if the wind is out of the east.

Wind is always a factor at Pebble.  It's part of the allure.

I like Jeeno + Minjee hip/lower body action. Hyo Joo so smooth I could watch that swing all day!

yes @woahnelly i too find these swing compilations fascinating! And these really allow us to compare the various swings e.g. the aggressive hip actions of Jeeno, MinJee, Brooke etc.

Are you able to identify the last 2 players in this swing compilation? Perhaps Sagstrom and Paula Reto?

(as well as 2nd (Xiaowen Yin?) and 3rd i.e. immediately following Brooke's lead-off)
...re 2nd: I'm guessing the clue = the "Epson Tour" on her visor?

thanks @woahnelly ... this "class of 2023" rookie group appears to be doing well (eg Grace Kim, Natthakritta Vongtaveelap, Hae Ran Ryu, et al).

The major falls, the minor lifts?

By Will Knights

The PGA Tour followed the Masters with a designated event at the RBC Heritage. That tournament was entertaining but still paled in comparison to the preceding major, because of course it did. Major championships are bigger and better than regular events. That’s the way golf works. Or, at least, that’s how it usually works.

The LPGA Tour is testing normal protocol this week, as there is a very real chance the JM Eagle LA Championship outshines last week’s Chevron Championship. The LA Championship has a field that rivals the Chevron while also boasting a superior venue: Wilshire Country Club. A Norman Macbeth design, Wilshire has held an LPGA event since 2018, delivering top-tier winners each time. It overcomes a fairly flat property thanks to brilliant par 3s and a winding barranca that comes into play on many holes. Wilshire is too short to host men’s professional golf, but perfect for the LPGA Tour. Plus it’s in the heart of Los Angeles, one of the biggest and most appealing markets available. It will be the best golf event on television this weekend.

But while Wilshire is certainly one of the strongest LPGA Tour stops of the year, the dullness of last week’s Chevron Championship is really what puts the LPGA in a tough spot. The first major of the year just felt flat. Television numbers weren’t bad, but those viewers weren’t treated to a “major” atmosphere. Crowds were sparse on site, partially due to poor weather, and as Andy Johnson noted on Monday’s Shotgun Start, many locals may have been hardly aware there was a major championship in town. Add in a bland golf course (as Garrett and Meg talked about for this week’s TFE Podcast) and it made for a very forgettable week.

The contrast between the LA Championship and the Chevron Championship speaks to larger issues at play with the LPGA Tour calendar. The Tour now has two majors (the Chevron and the Evian Championship) that don’t quite have that major championship feel, along with a disjointed schedule that fails to build to the biggest events. It’s awesome that the LA Championship and the upcoming International Crown are highly anticipated tournaments, but the Chevron should be THE event of the spring. Right now it’s not even the most exciting LPGA stop in April.

This paragraph here highlights the problems with the LPGA leadership team.  In a nutshell, they just don't get it.  I don't blame all this on Mollie, however it starts with her.  The senior staff has made poor decision after poor decision which is compounded by even poorer execution.  Sad to watch.

Chevron dull? Playoff golf between a player looking for their first win, and another looking for their first major, and a key chaser rinses one on the 18th to fall short?

AND another VERY key chaser finishes just one back (Nelly). Instead of 3, that left 2 Americans to battle it out in a major. Give me some of that every week! I did not expect Lilia to make the jump but a pleasant surprise that she did and did not hesitate. 🥶 For me, her stock went up on a couple levels.

Is she a sponsor exemption.  Still has game.

Kerr may have received a sponsor exemption for this week but it appears her entry into LPGA events this season is based on an LPGA Career Top 20 money list exemption. After the top 80 from the previous season this exemption category Kerr is playing out of is the 2nd highest exemption category.
