Best 3 Wood of all time?

Tour Edge E723/C723 - By far the best of all time IMO

C721 is awesome with the right shaft.  I've yet to find a TEE wood or hybrid that doesn't work well for me provided it has the correct shaft for my swing.

Ping g25 and Cobra F9 for me.  Didnt even carry a 3w before g25.  That stayed in the bag until F9 beat it.  Still have the F9 in the bag and the g25 is in my used rack in the garage.  Will not unload.

Stealth 2+ is an absolute monster, and it really makes me wish TM designed a driver based on the concept of the slideable weight in the back. It is such an elegant way to customize ball flight without turning the degrees up/down (and closing/opening the face in the process)

I've always been a Driver off the tee kind of guy, but the Stealth 2+ added a whole other element of security for me off the teebox and I use it all the time on narrower holes now without taking the risk

Titleist 910F was the best sounding and feeling 3W I've ever hit, though the alignment aid design was a bit of a miss.

Sonartec NP-99.  Low profile for off the deck but still excellent off a tee.  Or the Ping TisiTec...very long and great off the deck even though it is a large head.

That does look real damn good wow. Will keep my eyes peeled for this name at thrift stores/used club bins now.

From what I understand, the re-release in the mid 2010's  wasn't quite the same  (they seldom are).  It was white but called the "Blue" .  All Grafalloy advertising and communication regarding the shaft said it was the same.  But I heard it was not quite the same as the original.

I didn't even see the Ti3  when I originally looked at the post.  I was referring to the TiSi Tec.   In  And The Putter Went ...Ping  John Solheim said they can match the TiSi Tec fairway woods now (and even surpass them) but it "took a long time".  The woods were such an anomaly.  Long and easy to hit. I've considered selling mine from time to time just to thin the herd,  but still have it.

 I love this topic!!!  Yeah

I suppose the idea of what makes a "best" 3wood of all time is subjective, with individual preferences playing a major role.  My "best" 3woods have been bombers off the tee box as part of the equation.  As technology have developed over time, what qualifies as best is a moving target.

For years, I played golf and struggled with hitting the Driver.  When I was on, it was all good, but when it was off, it got ugly in a hurry with low, right misses (my left-handed version).  One of my solutions was to tee off with a 3-wood or even a 4-wood!!!  Wow, is that crazy or what!!!

something about my angle of swing path just delofted the clubs, so I ended up getting driver distance with fairway woods.

I've had the....

-Ping TiSi Tec

-Cleveland Quadpro (absolute howitzer off of a low tee)  I had a couple of these and even hit the longest tee shot of my life this under-rated fairway wood, a bomb of 370 yards!!

-Callaway Big Bertha "The Deuce", which was more like a strong 3, or even 2-wood.

-Callaway Steelhead (again, loved the sound, feel, and cannon shots off the tee)

These days, with my aging body and lingering injuries, I've ditched the 3-wood for good and now play a 5-wood and 23* hybrid.  For nostalgic purposes, I kept the Old 1990s Callaway "Deuce" and the original 7-Heaven-Wood.  These were the first clubs my dad and I became interested in as we got into golf back then, so I'll always hang on to these; along with my Eye 2 irons and old Quadpro.

Driver--Callaway Rogue ST Max w/ProjectX Cypher Black

FW-4/7 woods--Callaway Paradym

Irons 4-5--Callaway Apex

Irons 6-PW--Callaway RazrX w/steel Uniflex-- shafts

F2 Series Gap Wedge 52* degree

SW-Cleveland CBX 56*

There's a sonartec on ebay right now in very good shape (actually, there are several Sonartec's).  I have no idea regarding the seller but was searching for a fairway wood shaft and came across it.  I have no desire to get it but just a heads up.

The Adams BUL ... the only 3 wood I could ever hit consistently, not sure why I got rid of it over a decade ago ... BUL stood for big, ugly and long. It was all 3 of those.

I've heard and read all about the 910f, but have never tried it for myself.  I gotta get rid of the Titleist stigma that I've had all these years; believing that Titleist is only for really, really talented or elite level players; thinking that a regular 80s shooter like me can't use them.

Here is my (golfwrx-sourced) list, as I too have inquired about the same topic some years ago. I favor a smaller head/profile, and these models fit that bill :

1. Titleist 915fd

2. Taylormade M3

3. Taylormade M2 tour

4. Adam’s Super LS

5. Taylormade V Steel

Can’t seem to get the 915fd out of the bag, just a really confidence-inspiring 3 wood, and performs even better w an upgraded shaft. Glws!

TSR3 8* w Autoflex 505x shaft
Titleist 915fd w Fujikura Speeder Evolution IV 661 shaft
Titleist TSi3 4 hybrid w Fujikura Tour Spec Blue 7

Miura CB1008 4i-PW w Oban CT-115 S shafts
Miura Tour Wedge HB 48*, Miura K Grind 2.0 54* & 60* w Oban Ct-115 wedge shafts
Scotty Cameron Red X center shafted putter (I love anything CS)
Titleist Prov1x

Hard to say that there is 1 “best” 3 wood ever, but….for me it’s been Callaway Epic Flash sub zero. In my eyes it’s the best blend of everything, not too deep, not too shallow, hot face, and the front and back weight ports are a game changer. Never hit it but heard amazing things about the OG Sim TI.

I'm still using my EF SZ 3W.

I haven't compared it to newer offerings, so I can't give it a fair comparison to current 3W's you can buy today.

But the EF SZ is an absolute rocket off the tee. I'm not great with it off the deck, but never have been a great 3W off the deck player. Something I need to work on.

Edit: only played 9 holes today, but hit 2 shots off the deck and nailed the sweet spot both times. A simple trick of just focusing on one dimple made a huge difference. Love this club.

What a great topic, and it has me thinking...

For nostalgia I'd say the Titleist PT 15° and 975F haha.

For real, I loved my Cleveland Launcher and Callaway X2 Hit Pro deep face.

Overall, and to finally answer the question, it's hard to fight the Titleist TSR2, TS3, and TSi2.  Those are so insane with height, dispersion, speed, and feel.

All the Ping isi from back in the day are good. Bi-Matrix shaft and all.

As for topic I searching for 07 Burner TP those were very good. Early Tour Exotics, it was so long everyone had the 16*. I just played an old setup with VSteel BLK/YLW V2

This. The most copied and innovative 3 wood in history. The first titanium cup face wood. I always know a good player when there’s one in the bag.

Yeah the legendary Ti cup face started with the original CB and carried on thru the CB2, CB3, CB4 and onward. Amazing technology.

I haven’t found a 3-wood that has stayed in my bag consistently, but that’s two-fold. 1) I don’t hit fairway woods well, I spin them way too much, and 2) I hit it a long way and I don’t often need an equivalent distance 3-wood.

I have a F9 tour 3-wood that is east to hit and feels great, but it spins like crazy for me. I just bought an OG Sim,  and only hit it at the range. We’ll see how it goes.

...they're not for the faint of heart but Tour Edge Exotics get my vote.

(pick your own favorite model year. I've had this 119 in the bag since it's release. at address this head reminds me most of the original TE Combo Brazing that I used for many, many seasons)

IIRC it also has a titanium cup face which is a little rare for a fairway wood.  TEE, the most underrated clubs that few have heard of.
