2023 TaylorMade Spider Tour Series Putters

TaylorMade just announced their new Spider Tour Series line of putters available to ship late October. Although the pure roll face insert is the same, they are including a vibration damper behind the face so I am interested to see if that has a noticeable effect on feel/sound. The gunmetal with blue underneath looks sharp and I vastly prefer the overall appearance of the Tour V model. It seems that all stock models either come as a short slant or double bend with roughy 30 degrees of toe hang or face-balanced, respectively.

 

I'm curious to know what the general consensus is on this new series and which model you guys would choose. Any current Spider Tour or Spider X gamers that will upgrade to this newest line?

I haven't heard anything in regards to milled spiders but I suppose that would be a logical next step. Definitely intrigued to see what those would look like.

Not in the stock versions it appears. I think you can do a custom MySpider which has an L-neck option though. However, for now, I only saw the Tour and X models being offered for customization (not the new Z and V models).

Had they redone the tour red with no sight line in paint that didn’t fall off I’d have bought one. This just doesn’t interest me as I never liked the alignment on my spider x previously.

Its a gunmetal PVD finish so my guess is that they will be more durable than the previous painted versions but maybe not as robust as the hydroblast? Time will tell. I would think TM would have to choose a finish that avoids similar issues of the previous spiders.

If you go through the Myspiderx option you can get one with a plumbers neck, i'm thinking of going that route and getting it either all gun metal or hydroblast with no alignment.  Would be interested to see if the black surlyn insert will be the same as the old one that Jason Day has on his spider.

Agreed!  Felt like everyone has had a Spyder at one time or another.

I just picked one up today. I swapped my Golo 6.5 for it. There is something about the grip, which is NOT like the SS Pistol GT 1.0 you can buy. It’s so much smoother in your hands and doesn’t have sharp edges. The roll off these things is so good.

Would love to hear from those whom have tried, purchased, etc. the new Spider models in this range (The 'V' and 'Z' specifically)...

 

Love the updated look of the pseudo OG Spiders with the new finish/sightlines as well.

Went to my local Dicks today and to my surprise they were already selling the Spider Tour

I got a good glimpse into how good these things are. I converted 4 up and downs on my back nine and missed one. Ended up with 12 putts on the back for a 34. I didn’t make much of anything on the front and missed a ton of greens but once I got this thing going, it just wanted to hole everything.

On another note, the head cover will protect the hell out these things. It’s SUPER plush. I’ve got my PRG made NLU cover on it and it fits perfect.

I just tried to purchase one at a local Dick’s sporting goods after seeing this. When they rang it up, computer gave them a notice that they cannot sell it yet and they couldn’t override the alert. Had to hand it back over!

It was quite odd and kind of humorous. It was a couple of high school kids trying to figure out what was happening at the register and I wasn’t about to give them a hard time, just let them know they probably ought to pull the 5 others off the shelf 🤣

FWIW I got mine at my local shop. They’ve released clubs prior to launch dates in the past. I got the Golo 6.5 a week prior to launch. 
 

I’m really enjoying this putter. It’s like a Hydroblast Tour X but has even better feel. It’s quite hard to describe but I’d say it’s a hair softer but still has the solid mallet feel at impact.

Yah - the few putts I rolled around in the store I was impressed with.  I have a spider x copper single bend and while I like it, it is a little firm and the new spider I tried did feel softer and I definitely need that short slant.

It's pretty difficult to do a coordinated release while also making sure the products are readily available at retail on the release date. It's even harder when you're counting on shift workers at Dick's not to put the merch on the floor before the release date.

I would never criticize TM (Look at my WITB 🙂) - Dick's is clearer the stupid ones here. Teasing a guy with the putter all the way to the checkout then refusing the sale. If I was TM I'd be livid, the guy could've said, 'Okay, I'll go somewhere else and buy something else'...

I was able to get my hands on the tour version and played 18 with it today. It’s definitely stable and frames the ball well. I had 28 putts (average 29)… excited to test it more!

Got one from local Edwin Watts last week. Double bend so it has the back weight screws. I have a tremor (age 75) so I need all the weight I can get. Put a 75 gram weight in the grip but the weights in the head are a smaller diameter screw than previously. TaylorMade told me that the weights from previous versions would fit. They don't. Larger diameter screw. I do need more head weight. Any ideas? Thanks.
