So what about the finish on the new Spider Tour X (and others). Is it a bead blasted finish (or simlar), a paint, PVD, or what?

I believe it's a PVD finish but it seems durable. I had it scratch the floor and no mark at all on it. It feels almost like a bead-blasted finish: it's hard to describe.

I realize memories are long, but the days of the paint chipping are over from what I've seen - Taylormade seems to have finally got the message when it comes to fit and finish of their products,  and issues since the 'red' Spider Tour from around the 2017 era seemingly have come to an end...

OK, but when would you say that the problems stopped? 

 

Take for example the Spider EX. It was launched in 2021, TM has an introduction video from March 2021. So most of those should have seen at most two "seasons" of use, not much honestly.

 

Do a search on ebay to check how they wear. Search for spider ex. Check the used box. Those that are "used", but in reality almost not used at all, look good. But putters that seems to have been used, they mostly look really sad. Almost no middle ground of putters that has been used but look OK.

To make a club look good even after use takes quality materials and good design. Ping used to be really good at that, now with so much of their products being painted black on parts of the clubhead getting hard wear, that's not entirely true.

They may be out on the shelves but that doesn’t mean you can buy them, trust me (see my previous posts 🤣 )

I ordered my spider tour on 9/24 and it has shipped and should deliver on Friday 10/27. I play mine at 33" which had to be custom ordered.

Picked up the Tour X at my local shop today, the dark gray finish is really nice. Hoping this spider range will have better durability with the PVD finish.

I noticed this as well and almost commented on it earlier. Just something about that grip that feels different than the normal SS and softer. Feels great.

Generally, yes true path is standard according to TM’s website. Looks like PGA Superstore has the new Tour without the white true path. Must have been a special make up for them given their buying power.

Put it in the bag this morning and shot 77 with 29 putts. Only hit 8 GIR. The Tour model paired with True Path really is confidence inspiring at address and sets up nice and square.

Got to play 18 with the tour model today, replaced the grip with a Scotty Cameron pistol grip.  Took 9 holes to get it dialed in but it was great after that.  The feel and roll is great, hopefully the pvd finish holds up.

I can’t use anything but Scotty pistols and once in a while ping blackouts but for some reason the SS 1.0 just feels right on this from the factory to me.

Got to play 18 with the spider tour today. It was very cold and we had a long frost delay so the greens were in average shape. Reminds me a lot of my spider platinum that I regretted selling 4-5 years ago. Made 4 birdies on the day but nothing was outside of 4 feet. It seems to put a really nice roll on the ball. Once I get some more practice with it I will be able to tell if it’s staying in the bag

Spider Tour X Proto coming to retail looks awesome. What do you guys think the toe hang is? 28.1* on the US site whereas the CAD site lists it as face balanced. Just wondering which one is correct...

 

Around the 30* toe hang seems to work for me, so hoping that this one is somewhat similar

Ordered a My Spider Tour X, when first announced and it just came in. I went with the black finish, surlyn pure roll insert.

 

Hoping the finish holds up

She’s a beaut - My 2 new beauties should arrive shortly and I’ll post pics…

 

The finish will be fine, this isn’t 2017 anymore and they’ve learned their lesson.

 

Are you looking to adjust weights? I’ve been busy preparing for the arrival of my new babies and have ordered numerous different weight levels - Can’t wait to tinker!!
