2024 John Deere

I think they tried dead-air productions, which didn't work for the other two to three million fans who also watch. Most don't pay close attention to the announcers. For most, in my opinion, they're just white noise.

I rather enjoy the banter between Dottie and IBF, but that's just me.

We don’t need dead air.  We just need some professionalism out of these announcers.  Great ones know when to shut up and they excel at communicating with a few well chosen words.  This team literally feels like they need to fill every second of dead air running their mouths.  They need to learn to pick their spots, when they can truly add insights rather than just a constant barrage of jibber jabber.  But again, the fact that the producers have never changed this tells me that they believe that a golf telecast needs a running commentary at all times.

Announcers just saying old wore out clichés. Drive for show, putt for dough. If you are going to layup, layup.  This is an elevated Korn Ferry event really.

John Deere and the other sponsors would like to thank you from the bottoms of their corporate hearts for tuning into an inferior product.

Took my son yesterday for both of our first JDC.  Incredible event put on by the John Deere team and volunteer staff.   This is always one of my favorite events bc the field always includes rookies that don't have status into the larger events (Theegala, Aberg, Thornbjornsen over the last few years).  Woke up this morning to buy tickets for today as well and saw that they were sold out for the entire weekend.

Can't say enough about how impressed I was by the guys who stay after their round for autographs and to talk to the kids.

There has been talk in this thread equating this event to a Korn Ferry event.  While I enjoy the access that is available at the local KFT event that I attend every year, equating the Deere to a KTF event because of the way that the leaderboard is playing out is peak laziness.

Forget how the leaderboard is playing out, the problem for the Deere is they produced a supremely weak field per PGAT standards...only a 222 field rating making The Deere is the fifth weakest event YTD. For context, the Deere field rating only bested the Puerto Rican Open, Putacanna Championship, Myrtle Beach Classic, and the Mexican Open, and is coming off the heals of the 6th weakest event in the RMC. Frankly, I think it's just in a bad time of the year with the elite players gearing up for the final major.

Facts are facts, the Deere is a poor example of PGAT quality golf. However, facts are facts, and even the worst PGAT event, the Puerto Rican Open, has a significantly higher field ranking than the best KFT event, so there really is no comparison between the two tours.

John Deere has a kinda lackluster aura beforehand to me each year, but watching it I find myself like it. The course is pretty exciting with holes that pleases the eye watching them and even though the big cannons do not show up the competition gets good. That young man Thompson aint doing much making it a feast though, looks like he hates the world. Guess its his game face but he aint making it the watching experience any lighter.

They really need to upgrade the weak strength of this course.

As others have said regarding commentators, the major networks really like to make it as much about them as they can.

Been watching espn+ and it's much better and interesting how the overseas networks coverage don't even show the commentators.

Gee Dottie and everyone else, what would we do without your comment after comment after comment so that we know if a player is, well, whatever they're doing.

I hear ya.  Roll back the equipment 25 yards and the course is a better fit.  People will scratch and claw to prevent that however.

For those who don't like watching future talent (John  Deere Classic) you might want to skip next week tournament. The Isco is a new sponsor with even less big names but ISCO aready know that.....

A measly $4M Purse but all four rounds will be on the Golf Channel.....

PGA Tour lands new title sponsor for Kentucky tournament

ISCO CHAMPIONSHIP
The PGA Tour has a new title sponsor for its Kentucky event, with piping solutions provider ISCO Industries taking over the spot formerly held by Barbasol. ISCO is signing a four-year contract for the ISCO Championship, held in Nicholasville, Ky., July 11-14. The tournament is played opposite the Genesis Scottish Open, an event co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour and DP World Tour.

Financial terms were not disclosed, though sources said events at this level have been commanding between $8-10M annually. Louisville-based ISCO did not use an agency and negotiated the deal directly with the tour's business development team. This deal means the tour is now fully sponsored for the 2024 season.

Now, the tour's sponsorship team will turn its attention to 2025. SBJ reported in May that Truist is signing on for the Charlotte tournament, formerly held by Wells Fargo, starting next year. An announcement on that deal is expected soon.

Also, both of RBC's tournaments – the Heritage in Hilton Head and Canadian Open – are up for renewal. RBC only signed one-year deals for 2024, and its CMO Mary DePaoli indicated recently the bank wanted to see how the current upheaval in the men's pro game played out before signing any long-term contracts.

SBJ reported in January that Farmers was not expected to renew its deal for the Farmers Insurance Open following the expiration of its contract in 2026.
