Jeans on the Golf Course - Yay or Nay?

I may have already commented in this thread (or I'm having very vivid deja vu). When playing a new course I've never worn jeans, or colarless shirts, out of respect for the members. To be honest, what "the members" think is of little importance to me - basically, they can suck it. I do care about the course staff though, and it puts them in an awkward position having to turn away paying customers.

When reading some people's comments, I laughed at the "comfort" argument against jeans. Couldn't that same argument be made FOR t-shirts and wife beaters? How frigging tight do you guys wear your jeans anyway? Or maybe some of you suffer from elephantitis - sorry to hear that.

I'm joining a new course this year. When I've played there in the past, I ran into more posers than any other course in the area (decked out in TM or Cally branded gear, every club from the same line, and a quasi staff/cart bag). I quit playing for money almost as soon as I started (20+ years ago), but based on this thread, I may start to, while wearing jeans. Sounds like easy money.

Its funny cause a most municipal courses i play you feel like a jerk if your all tucked in with slacks on. And their not even bad courses either lol

If THAT is what passes as "acceptable" to you jeans snobs...my goodness! Try again. The FABRIC alone is not what makes something hideous. Tells me you guys have no clue on fashion. WOW.

 

Heel big boy. I was having some fun in a thread that I remember was already started when I first joined this forum over a year ago and it's still getting posts. Although I rarely wear jeans on a course, I will if there is no code, but wouldn't be caught dead in the baby blues. And I think Mr. Rodgers wants his wardrobe back too.

This question would not even have been asked in South Africa. Jeans are BANNED on golf courses. All those I have played anyway.

Seems our standards are higher and we have more to be proud of that I had previously envisaged. Then again we did take our queue from R&A.

I'm guilty of wearing jeans once in a while on my course - for a quick 9 at 6:30pm after work I might not have time to go and change. Not the end of the world.

on the weekends though I looks like I'm heading to a wedding when I play - I love dressing up.

khakis for me.. dont really care what other people are wearing though, i just cant see jeans being too comfortable when playing golf, and just too hot in the summer..

If I am playing in the spring, I might wear Jeans if it is muddy and chilly - same for late fall. But I might also wear an old pair of kahkies. Other than that, I play in slacks or shorts.

I've seen guys that wear Ian Poulter kinda gear.........heheheheh..........and THEY SLICED and HOOKED stuff into the woods and peoples houses,.and they did that while looking goofier, and spending a shtload more $.

Never have, and I never will. I dont care if someone else wears them. I just like the comfort of khakis or shorts rather than jeans on the course. I love jeans off the course though just for some reason not on the course.
