Completely forgot about him until today when I saw him playing today at the Open. This guy was was immense 3-4 years ago... ashame how his career has gone downhill for whatever reason. Lets hope he has a good run at the Open.
He had an injury - quite a bit about it on the internet and on his website.
Jose Maria Olazabal is a good one...already mentioned I know.

I remember he has had some injuries, and I'm not the best at staying in the loop but I haven't heard his name for a long, long time.

Loved watching him win at Augusta.
I played a tournament with him this yr. Brtish open final qualifying in scotland. Was cool. It was late on the practice day, i was one of 3 players on the range and up comes Olazabal next to me (carried his own bag up with caddy behind him) and start hitting a few balls.
Hits it good still apart from the odd really wide one every now and again. short game was unreal on the chipping green.
WHt....Slicefixer.

Is Slice still around as its been quiet recently.
This is just pure speculation, but me thinks there was some sort of falling out w/ Slicefixer and he just decided to move on. Bummer too, because that forum was remotely readable w/ him around. Now it's just a bunch of hacks that can't play themselves telling everyone else what they're doing wrong. Seriously, :WTF:.

Anyhow, hope he gets the book/website going soon.

Nationwide player once hailed as longest hitter on any tour.
Having seen Schwamkrug play, I can tell you this guy can move it out there with anyone who's ever stepped foot on a golf course.
I walked a round watching him play in a Nationwide Tournament and he was incredible. I did some research on him a couple of years ago and it looked like he had a couple of starts on the PGA Tour and did ok in the old Houston Open and then to the Nationwide Tour where he bombed deep it all day but couldn't score then to the mini tours down in the South was the last I could find on him.

Very nice guy and only about 6' 180lbs but he would tee off with a 2 iron and match the Nationwide players drives. Monster long.
Chip Beck....I wonder if he regrets laying up on 15 at Augusta? I know some of you remember that debacle.

David Ogrin....Played a few times with him around the San Antonio area in the mid 90s. Best short game I have ever seen but pretty much a scraper with the longer clubs.
Didn't Chip Beck become a rather successful financial adviser. IIRC he was planning to play on the senior tour.

Yeah I remember playing against him in the early 2000s at Virginia events. Always had to do a double take - looks just like his brother and sounds just like him. All in all good guy.

Think he moved to North Carolina at some point because I thought there was something about him playing for the other team in the Virginia/Carolina matches some years back. Not sure though.

Might have been mentioned, didn't read the entire thread but John Huston. What happened to that guy? With many names I'm seeing, especially former PGA players, I think I see a pattern developing, tell me if I'm wrong. None of these guys were very long hitters. Obviously, that puts stress on your long game and then your short game and putting, etc. Do you guys think the "Tiger" proofing of courses contributed to some of these guys just not being able to compete anymore? I think it's highly likely. Thoughts?

Didn't do Tim Clark any harm at the Players - certainly not a long hitter by any means.
One example out of 9 pages. And he's a top tier player, most of these guys weren't or if they were, it was for a very short time. I was talking about the guys who have disappeared, has it affected them? He has a good long game and putts well. It was just an observation. I'm sure there's quantitative evidence that it happened to at least some of these guys but that's more work than I'm willing to do. :russian_roulette:
