Just added a almost Mint 10 Degree Texan. The head is perfect, superb grain, great looking head shape and face profile. My favorite Texan head shape. S400 shaft, 44 inches long and D7 Swing weight TStephen ! You'd like this one...[attachment=3010166:Txn_BrP_1.jpg][attachment=3010208:Txn_Br_p_2.jpg]

You're right Fred that is one I'd like to let fly on the course.

Funny thing this year I am hitting light swing weight clubs great too.

My newest '50 LFF and my M85 are D-0 and I have been just killing them.

Funnier yet is my 48" House Of Forged Intruder 5 degree loft with an F-8 sw X.

The Intruder is closer to my persimmon from the control launch and spin point of view.

Guys,
Its almost mid December in the Northeast and another 60 degree day ! We have really lucked out this fall with very mild weather, I only hope it continues. I haven't picked up a golf club much this year, mainly because of a bad back since July, but its felt better lately. Today I took out a newly acquired Texan, one I mentioned above and hit the course about an hour before dusk. I was hitting the new Callaway Chrome soft and super soft and a couple of old Tour Balata 100s. I haven't touched a club since mid August. It was great to be out there today and made some very good swings, but was only going at it about 80 percent. I hit about 12 balls. This Texan is one of the best I've ever hit, its just as good as it gets. I hit most on the screws with good length. The new Callaway Chrome balls are great with persimmon ! I'm looking fwd to getting back to 100 percent next season..

Since you were looking for a LH Texan-
Here is one.

[attachment=3058972:100_9870.JPG]

It's friend is a LH MacGregor Custom M09 copy.

Both were restored by Dave Wood a few years ago, (Thanks again Freddie.)

Dave and I have also had a few phone conversations this year, but that's an entirely different thread for a different day.

Was going through some of my archive flash drives yesterday and came across this video ( from 5 years ago). I really like this shot of my local course in the fall. I remember taking this, its from the left hand rough hitting one of my Texans back towards the tee. Sorry about the self indulgent post, but the sound of this shot is pretty sweet. Balata off a 1993 (Made for Jackie Burke) WB 10 *Texan. I roped it.

Freddiec; you're post has welled up a near uncrontrollable urge inside of me to rush outside with a passel of practice balls and my Spalding Executives in search of that unique sound that can only be had from a well struck shot with wood. All of my most memorable shots with those clubs from the past year came rushing back into my mind in an instant!

Just read through this thread and I hate to say this but back in the early 90's I worked for Dallas Golf in Irving, TX repairing and building clubs and we had about 20 or so of the Texas Soleplate driver heads. I never asked if they were seconds or rejects, I always assumed they were, but we were basically shafting them with junior shafts and giving them away to kids trying to get them playing golf. I didn't really know anything about Wood Brothers at the time and I was hitting a Louisville Classic 50's driver at the time and slowly transitioning to metal so I never even thought about grabbing a couple of these to build or have built at a later date. Hindsight. :-(

In Minnesota for the Ryder Cup.

When Dustin or Rory crushes one, it still can't compare with the sound of a Wood Bros Texan!

I took "Woosie" out last night and despite my original intention to hit it once or twice only to 'protect' the autograph, I hit it just about every opportunity. Pleased to say that the pen on the heel and toe is intact, but on the insert it was completely obliterated lol.

I hit a few good ones ... even managed to hit one straight and one with a ( very) slight draw. But in general there are two shots with this beast - the power fade or the extreme power fade :) This club simply eliminates the left side of the course. I'd set up aiming down the left hand edge of the fairway, and the ball would curve back to middle right, or a couple of huge bananas that Bubba would approve of that finished in the right rough. The 'power banana' is a certainly a new shot for me, as I usually miss everything left. . I even hit my longest drive ever on the 7th ... leaving just a 6-iron approach on a 460 yard hole!

It all added up to a 78 on the first ball and no lost balls off the tee.

I wouldn't play this every week, as the shaft is far too stiff for me, but it would be a great club in the wind ... very low trajectory !

Great looking club and a proper "Woosie weapon". I've got a set of his Maruman irons which weren't that stiff but maybe he liked his driver shaft like a poker.

Sounds like a great addition and perfect for links golf!

Well I just thought I would drop everyone a line as it has been quite a while since I have seen or found any new "wood" that someone has just picked up. I have not come across anything as of late since my Black Texan which Dave Wood stated it looked like a Prototype model. This has a much shallower face than others I have, smallish head too. Pictures should be on this post a few pages back.

"Whatcha got there son"?
