Looking forward to next week. Got a shipment of 4 Texan's and a WB 3-wood coming. Got them at a steal for under $80!

Well folks, here they are! 4 Texan's and one Fairway Instrument. Overall killer condition and having two not having loft markings so likely Tour Clubs, and the one Blonde in the middle having a huge head with the forth a beautiful dark cherry stain, quite happy with this investment! Doesn't look like any of the drivers simply came off the floor but we're all custom.

Wow, love the look of the tiny blonde with the =WB= crown. I'd hit that! Is that a Titanium shaft I see there?

Yeah, it is nice, Titanium shaft and all. The bigger blonde has a X100 shaft and the other two drivers are True Temper Stiff shafts.

Found out that these were all consigned together from one owner in California but no other details beyond that.

Guess I will have to see what DW knows..

Honestly I can't get over these clubs being sold so cheap! I kinda felt that they were going to be in rough condition or something that would justify the price but they are virtually mint! I have to get these pictures to DW to see if he knows anything about them.

Happy to report a new treasure - the personal Wood Bros Texan of PGA and Champions Tour player - and WRX member rangersgoalie!

A beautiful early Tour Texan - acquired at the New Oleans Open - in 1990 according to Dave Wood.

Tour black finish, no crown stamp, no loft stamp, winged WB logo on back for T V, white/red/white fiber insert --- all custom and Tour only design features.

Fitted with a favorite Brunswick Matched Fiber Precision 7.5 graphite shaft.

Unable to post pictures here but have elsewhere.

Just took delivery of two new WB's today! One is an Australian in lovely condition, winged WB logo on heel side, solid red insert, s300 shaft. The second is a unique Blonde Texan from a head shape standpoint. Very pronounced toe shape, deep face (1 3/4"), and WRW insert!

I added a picture of both my new Aussie and my Elk Aussie.

I don't think I could host such an event without Tex and Freddie! They are both so knowledgeable about Wood Bros history and clubs, in fact the two of them continue to inspire me and my collection! I am just fairly good at acquisitions..

That new Blonde Texan that I picked up with the Aussie is really cool the more I look at it and quite unique in my collection. It is larger overall, curved sole instead of the more usual flat bottom design. Reminds me of the Ping / Callaway easy off the deck designs!

I have to put some thought towards how many I want to keep overall. Limited space always means sacrifice!

Yes, thats right...20 years.

Know that Dave Wood did some repair work for him.

Just wondered if Hogan ever hit a WB Driver..

Jack Burke, Jr. or Steve Elkington or Texsport might know as well.

I'll ask Dave, but I've only heard of Mr Hogan hitting MacGregor and Hogan drivers.The repairs were on MacGregor drivers.

Of course, Dave made drivers for Mr Burke and Elk.

Congrats all on their new Wood Bros findings and thanks for sharing the pictures.

It's always a pleasure to look at a nice Wood Bros wood that is still in great shape!

BTW does anybody know someone who has great skills and could do a shaft change for a nice persimmon Wood Bros wood?

I am currently thinking about replacing a DG extra stiff steel shaft with a DG regular flex steel shaft.

Is it still possible to get the original Championchip Balance graphite shafts?

As I love to play my Wood Bros woods from time to time on the course, a fitting shaft flex would be awesome.

In the 90s I had to change the steel shaft in my Texan. I still remember the guy who changed the DG stiff steel shaft with a DG regular flex steel shaft. My Texan was almost new back than. While replacing the shaft he reworked the entire club head that did not have a single ding or scratch. I am very sad that this is the only reason the Texan does no longer wear first paint.

Could the shaft be replaced without reworking the entire club head?

[its nearly impossible to pull a shaft from a persimmon head without causing the poly to melt from the heat to pull the shaft, even more so with a bore through shaft as it will damage the finish on the soleplate

If its a poor condition finish and going to be a player its not a big deal to play with out refinishing again If it is real nice shape without out any blems its going to cause some damage to finish pulling the shaft

Tim, do you do that sort of work? I have a Seve Limited Edition driver that the shaft broke during its shipping to me. Never going to play it and I can refinish it if needed, just need a shaft put in..

How big is the damage done to the club head usually?

Does the poly melt only locally around the bore through an close to the whipping?

Do you have any pictures that illustrate the amount of damage that is done to the club head?

Just to understand the process of pulling the shaft better:

- Is the heat applied to the shaft or to the club head?

- Is the heat applied locally or is the heat applied to the entire head?

What makes me sad about the shaft replacement in my old Texan is that as part of the reworking of the club head all the engravings got smaller. Additionally the colors of the engravings changed slightly. Thus the entire club head does no longer look like brand new. In case the shaft replacement could be done with some local rework only and keeping the engravings original that would be awesome!
