Seems eBay sellers have discovered what we all know and (IMO) jacked the prices a bit.

I've picked up the 3, 4 and 5 at Play It Again stores around here for about $30 ea.

A couple of days ago I was just lurking around Craigslist and saw a month old ad of a 3W and 5W Vsteels (with stock regular flex shafts and headcovers) for $20 each...in my mind I thought "those would've been snapped up a long time ago, but why is the ad still up??". So on a lark, I sent off a text to him if he still had it and to my shock, he told me they're still available and was desperate to get rid of them. In fact, he was willing to go to my workplace in 2 hours and did the transaction...the heads are definitely used but still playable...

Just reshafted my 15* V Steel with a Motored F3 70x and am loving it so far. Much better control than my X Hot Pro with similar distance. Might have to throw the V Steel 5 wood with a Speeder 757 in the bag soon. Every once in awhile, I like to bring out my Tour Spoon with a Grafalloy Blue and that thing is great!!

Just picked up my first high lofted wood. Got the 21* yesterday after hitting it in the bay at edwin watts. It is steel shafted and feels great. Hoping to get it out on the course and see what kind of distance it actually puts up. According to the hitting bay I was taking it about 265 total with about 5 yards of roll out. I know that isn't going to be the distance in the real world, but I am looking for a sold 240 out of it. They still have some 13* 15* and 18* left that are in good shape. Wish they had a 16.5*. Would have picked that up in a heartbeat and sold my new X hot 15* today.

I picked up this little baby a couple of months ago at Golf Galaxy for $7.99. It was beat up, but I attempted my 1st refinishing job. Take a look (as you can see I started sanding before I took the before pictures/only the hosel area though, the toe area was beat up like that).

What shaft should I put in this club? I'm torn between what I have laying around or buying something different. I have at home these:
Miyazaki Kusala Black, Oban Devotion, Matrix Ozik X Con 7, Aldila NV. The other thought was trying to find a pull on eBay of a Diamana D+, Graffaly Blue, RIP Alpha 70 for under $80 (if possible).

It kills me that I sold my original VSteels. I was not a good player when I bought them. They were my 1st fairway woods. Fast forward to now and I'm calling up my buddy I sold them to praying he will sell them back to me.

Fantastic refinishing job, antnee94!

IMO, the V-Steel is the best fairway wood ever made. Equally good for tee and fairway shots, great turf interaction, perfect over-all size, great feel, great sound, and over-all great looks.

I still have a 3 wood. Its not in the bag right now because its a little beat up after so many years of use. I want to refinish it and put it back in play.

Excellent refinish there. I picked mine up for $20 in great condition from Edwin Watts. Definitely want to find a 16.5* 4w to go along with my 21* 7w. Haven't been getting along well with the new hybrids on the market so I am seeing what I can do with some tried and true older technology. Absolutely love the 7w with DG stiff steel shaft.

The can cost $7.99. Since it has the primer in it, I decided to just spray. The guy at the store told me I wouldn't need it, but if I did prime it, use a zinc primer. At that point I figured we were getting to technical.

I for one am so glad I put the 3 wood back in the bag. I also have a 5,7, and 9 wood on the way and hopefully will be here on Thursday. I have a few drivers with nice shafts laying around so I am thinking I will be reshafting them real soon. I have a few DVS shafts and a original Blue as well. I love the Accra dymatch in my 3 wood.

I'm not sure I would try and refinish a putter with it. But that is just me.
I've taken it out in the sun and haven't noticed any glare. It's supposed to be a flat finish and look just like the cap top on the spray can. I think it's a little shinier that I originally wanted. I took the picture right under the recessed light in my den. I think that's why you get the one spot that looks like glare. But it's really a medium/dull head. I also used my iPhone, so not the best picture quality.

That's the other paint I was told to use. My only advice is let the paint cure once it drys. I haven't touched it for almost two weeks now.

I just found the 15 degree 3 wood on a rack at the PGA Tour Superstore. It was listed at $19.99, plus 25% off all pre-owned clubs. In the end I had a $10 coupon I used and waled out with it for under $6. Here come the 2nd refinishing job to match the 5 wood above.

I'm now on a mission to find a good low launching, high kick point shaft on the cheap. Preferably 2 of the same shafts for under $50. Although I am toying with the idea of a Graffaloy Blue 75 (for $80 each). The other one is the Aldila NV.

Here's my story: I had found one a while long ago on some shady local second-hand ad website. No golfer really looks there I don't think, so I though I'd let the time pass to see if the price dropped. Then a week ago I wrote the seller to find more about the shaft and loft (you couldn't tell from the picture but the owner replied it was a 4w with stiff speeder 757) and then negotiated the price down a bit. We ended up agreeing to €50 delivered so not incredibly cheap but I really wanted to own a 4w to play in a driver-4w-3i-... setup, and since everything in my bag is an old classic this was a great fit.

The v-steel 4w arrived in the post 2 days ago and I was a bit upset to see the speeder 757 is actually x-stiff (which may well be too stiff for me - I swing my driver 104-107) but at least the condition was really good. I also noticed it had the paint break in the hosel and no serial so I wrote the guy to let him know it had arrived and asked him if he could offer any info re. the origin of the club (oh and that the shaft was "somehow" stiffer than i'd expected). He's just replied saying that he got it from a tour van - apparently they built it for him for free back in 2004-5 when he played at one event of the european challenge tour and that yes it's really stiff, he's recently bought ping g20 3 and 5w to replace this...

Will take it to the range this weekend, hoping it's not too stiff.

I almost feel stupid asking this question...but is there any difference between the heads on the ladies' V-steel and the men's?

I ask, because I see ladies' versions come up pretty cheap from time to time--much cheaper than the men's even if I have to PAY to reshaft. I'd be ok with pink paintfill if I can find a 5w for dirt cheap. But if the head is different I'll refrain.

I picked up a 3-wood V Steel on eBay that looked like it had the paint break from the pictures for about $40. Received it, and sure enough it had the paint break and no serial number, and had a Speeder 757X in it. I knew about the shaft, and figured the X shaft was why I got a tour issue V Steel for so cheap. Anyway, took it and hit it, and love that combo!! That thing just goes hard and straight on a piercing trajectory. My swing speed is the same as yours. It's stout, but give it a whirl; you may find you really like it. It is not unhittable in any way, it just reminds of steel shafts but with a lighter weight. Very stable and very predictable.

I have a 5w on the way to compete with my Trilogy 4w for a place in the bag. I previously had a 3 & 5 with the stock R flex shaft and certainly don't need to repeat that experience. I have a S300 in my 3w and am thinking steel in the 5w, but the main difference is the 3w is a deep faced, off the tee only club whereas the 5 will be for fairway use. How is the S300 in these heads off the fairway? I also have a VS Proto 80 I can put in. Would that be a better choice? Or any other heavy(er) shaft to produce a mid trajectory ball flight.

VS proto is a great shaft in these heads, the s300 works really well too. I think For me a rombax or blueboard have produced the best results out of a v steel, but it is up to you. The kai'li also did an awesome job. I love my 3 wood off the tee and deck. it is deep enough in the face you hit it with confidence, and the sole lets you hit it off the deck very well. I like my 5 wood out of the rough and any other crappy lie. It is my bread and butter
