I like Poston , especially this time of year when the nice courses are going for $+250

ya I hear ya, golf is really expensive down there for a "decent" courses
we played Stadium a few years ago and it seriously cost my cousin and I almost a grand after green fees, tips, food etc....
but once in a lifetime thing, so im OK w that

also excited to play ASU
heard its not an awesome course, but it has a lot of history there, so it will be fun

I like ASU Karsten , it's short except for 4 par 4's that can play really long. It's a Dye course and some people hate his designs but I like it for the price.

hey guys

just got back from my trip to AZ last night

got 3 rounds in and some range time w some of the new gear

didnt get a ton of pics, but ill post a few below

 

played 3 times - Karsten ASU, Whirlwind (Troon Course) & Lone Tree

hardest was Karsten, nicest was Whirlwind (by FAR nicest course ive ever played)

played like a donkey shooting 81 at ASU, 80 at WW and 78 at LT - needless to say adjusting to new gear, unfamiliar courses and winter rust to ay the least

 

Coolest thing was being "Golfer of the Day" at ASU

that was really cool - got free golf, range balls, a sleeve of new Pro V1x's and some meals/drinks on the house

big thanks to ASU for that, really awesome of them

 

 

 

ok, onto the gear (posted some new pics on page 1 for you, not awesome ones tho sorry)

 

Driver - Nike VR Ltd. w KK silver 60

• this was a PURE experiment (no pun intended Tai ;) )
  
• had the shaft kicking around and the club was new for $100
  
• simply put - LONGEST DRIVER IVE EVER HIT. And to add to that, its forgiving, straight and misses are hardly punished both on distance and spin
  
• only thing - it suffered a small dent on top. They offered to replace it, but I dont want to now. Its perfect the way it is. I might try to get one of those dentless repair shops to pull it if they can. Dont wanna mess w it at all.
  
• im not a baller when it comes to long drives, but i hit A LOT in the 285-300 range this week. Best one was on ASU #9. fwy is literally like 50yds wide, water right so you need to be in the short grass on this hole. I split the fwy exactly in half and hit it 292 yds leaving a wedge in (then missed the tweeter for par ;( ! LOL!)
  

 

 

3w - Nike CP 2.0

• did nothing but change the grip, still has the stock KK HBP black shaft in it, 60gms and all
  
• no wonder most of the tour players use the CP over the CT - its crazy good
  
• again, same as the Ltd. driver - forgiving as he L L, awesome feel/sound and consistent disctance
  
• i used this a TON in 3 rounds and i could count on it after 4 swings w it on the range
  
• HIGH, low spin baby cuts - love this thing to death
  

 

 

 

TM TP CB/MC's

• stock KBS tours Stiff, CB 5-6, MC 7-PW, 1* weak on the CB's
  
• Ill post a pic below of me after I hit them for the first time on the range at ASU .... this pic says enough
  

 

• but seriously, these are RAD clubs .. yes RAD
  
• ill come back to this later once I have more than 3 rounds, as I need at least 5 rounds and some more outdoor range time to fully asses them but ....... until then
  
• consistant, superb feel, perfect look in the bag and at address, sufficient spin in the short irons
  
• I cant not tell the difference from the 7-8i hardly at all
  
• turf interaction is absolutely spot on w these as well - im a digger, w a steep angle and flight my irons low - the grind on these just plain works
  
• the ball flight w the KBS are exactly where I want them, mid to high. Dont count out the stock shafts if ordering these
  

Surprise club of the trip - Adams DHy 24* w V2 100gm

• was NOT expecting this to perform as good as it does - HOLY COW!!!!!!
  
• its impossible to miss w this club. The turf interaction is FREAKING AMAZING
  
• i hit this as high as my 7i (which I wanted), but can also flight it in low if needed
  
• DOES NOT go left, its straight as an arrow or baby cuts w it
  
• this was suppose to be my 215-220 club, but i can put it out there 230 no probs
  
• i may have to put a CB 4i in play to cover the gap from 5i to this tho, as my 5i is about 200-205
  
• but ill test some more once the snow melts. But i can say for sure I can pull the Cally XHP 20* hybrid, as this club does what the HXP did before, but easier and no fear of losing it left.
  

I MAY add a 3rd wedge going 51, 55, 59, pull the XHP and add a CB 4i to round out the gaps

new wedges are first tho - might go right outside the box and get some Cleveland's, but well see

but id say bag it pretty locked up from here on out, couple small tweaks when the season starts and thats it

 

also did some ball testing - BStone B330S, TM Lethal, new V1x all up against my Cally Blacks ive played the past 2 years

honestly the new V1x's are incredible, but no way im paying $50/doz for balls

pretty sure ill be gaming the B330s this year - this ball was awesome in regards to distance, spin and control

 

so all in all, GREAT trip, awesome golf and VERY happy w al my gear

haha, ya thats about how long i had it
on the monitor it was just too long - i was hitting it as long as my driver
and when i compared the CP 2.0 side by side, it was shorter (which i wanted), and felt/sounded better IMO
now that i have tested it outside, it does EXACTLY what i wanted it too

forgiveness is off the charts w it - VERY VERY good club
and again, this is straight off the shelf

Much needed break from winter and glad to see the warm sun again
Yep the streak is over - had one theee putt in the 3 rounds
Had two holes i completely farted on at ASU that cost me most of my shots that day

I found the grass really tough to get used to down there, especially the rough
Seemed to wanna grab the club and stop it a lot
Greens rolled so true that i was playing more break than i needed
So my strong part of my game (short game) suffered a bit

Well it wad by choice to not play much last year
Normally i will play well into September, then not back at it again till April or so
So the first few weeks are kinda gross mostly in the 78-83 range

Ive been hitting a lot of balls indoors since November, so i had my swing back a bit earlier
Short game tho .... Yuck

So you found the distance to be more along the lines of a 3i replacement rather than a 4i replacement? This thing sounds like it could kick out the 9031 I've got replacing my 4i right now...
