Bridgestone PROTOTYPE Putter

From the Sony! Never Seen Before!!!!

From the Sony Open.......new for ???????? Bridgestone Prototype Putter. It's currently being played by a guy who's sister is probably better known, Yusaku Miyazato..brother of Ai on the LPGA. Yusaku you may remember made two hole's in one within six holes last year at the Reno Tahoe Open.

This putter is as Proto as you can get. The USA Bridgestone Rep knew nothing about it and today was the first time he also had seen it. Putter ho's....ENJOY! :crazy:

I don't know if it will ever be made. The Yes and Rife guys had a few eyebrows raised after seeing this one. I know I immeditately did a double take on it.

It is a nice looking putter. The face is interesting though. The grooves look like Rife and the rest of the face has the Yes design so I could see why Yes and Rife would be a little interested in it.

I'd pick one up when the make an 8802 style. (I'll be right behind Reid!)

Bonus if they use carbon instead of stainless steel.

I think the wedges you saw in Appleby's bag were the West Coast Grind, which are on the Golf Digest Hot List. They look awfully similar to one another.

The Rife and Yes guys were probably wondering why did they spend all that money to make the grooves backwards??? Now the real question is, who is 'they'? The Yes/Rife guys or the Bridgestone guys?

 

Regardless, I am not impressed. If anything, its just one more club you have to clean the grooves on.

Really I can see it getting dirty if it is wet out or if you don't clean your ball on the putting green. Other than that I think it would be fine.

* I don't like that Hosel design. Gimme a standard plumber's neck, Centershaft, or perhaps a "mid-slant" design better.

 

* It appears as if has a LOT of offset.

 

Other than that - I love it!

It is wet out smart guy. And I don't baby my putter. It gets set on the ground all the time.

Those grooves are *exactly* what I was talking about in the putter forum when I said someone needs to put iron like grooves on their putter... now all they have to do is put a little silicone in them :crazy:

No...he's not and hasn't been for quite a while now. The few putters that are still being sold KB I and II are several years old now. I spoke to some TS insiders and there were a few things that happened that I can't discuss but a deal never was completed. I also spoke to some other putter companies and there might possibly be a HUGE deal in the works for Bridgestone in their putter division. No...it's not Cameron..but stil pretty exciting. :crazy:

Bridgestone has been working on revising their putting lineup with a big name for quite some time now. The putter that Miyazato is using is actually one of over 100 prototypes that were tested back at the Bridgestone Open practice day last year. Numerous putter companies (can't name names) brought in their designs and prototypes for pros to test that day. As you can see in the bottom left picture, there are all shapes and sizes and styles but as Reid said, it hasn't been revealed yet which are actually going into production (if any at all) :). Yusaku was actually the one doing the testing for Bridgestone back at that time. Remember these are still prototypes and would be tweaked for retail.

About 6 weeks ago I was told of a rumor with Bridgestone talking to a few prominent putter makers, of course I haven't heard anything else until you just mentioned it.

I'm actually a huge fan of the bridgestone golf clubs now after playing the j33 cb irons for the last year, and the feel, they provide is unsurpassed, I have loved pulling shafts, and trying the feel of the heads with several different shafts, that it was to my amazment that this presented underground assortment of hidden clubs exisit, and are acutally circuventing around the modern public without any knowledge of their presence.

Like the fact that bridgestone even makes putters, is still slowly setting in to my frontal lobe.

 

Great photos of the proto. So the next question is where do I sign to get one.

WOW, awsome putter, when and where can I find one, of those bridgestone putters, and are there older models, that I can find now for my collection?
