Aircraft noise in PGA golf tournaments

Yeah I find the droning noise irritating. You’re not the only one.

There were various small planes flying overhead.  Two were banners and the other not.  It was super annoying in person.

I play the two Oceana Naval Air Station courses routinely.  (Hornet & Tomcat)

 

We have F-22's and F-18's taking off and landing all day long and it's just part of the deal when you're on a air base. 

 

Barely notice them after a while.

It is the blimp flying around over the course, and yes the droning noise is annoying.

The constant droning airplane noise at the US Open was an aerial photography plane. The blimp was not there.

I'm surprised that some sound engineer couldn't take that noise out or tone it down considerably.

I was thinking the same thing yesterday.

All golf courses should be no fly zones or at the very least have luxury good advertisements on the plane exterior.

The commentary is unintelligible with the constant drone of aircraft. Hire someone to point a shotgun microphone at the offending plane and use noise cancellation technology to subtract the sound from the broadcast.

There’s a cricket ground in Australia which hosts some games of reasonable standard and is right next to an Air Force base

 

Played there a few years ago when exercises were taking place with the US

 

Fascinating for a while but games would never finish if players stopped to watch every takeoff and landing so just got on with it
