I believe it was J. Parry who hit his ball into the sand on 9 and he's going through the sand with his hands, then his caddy, then there's 6 people in the sand sifting through the sand looking for his ball for a couple minutes. Then they check the rough, then the sand again.

A part of me really doesn't care as long as they aren't doing it mid swing. Another part of me is annoyed by hearing it so much. I guess unless they start inforcing some sort of punishment for it, you won't see it changing any time soon.

99% of all moronic/violent/destructive behavior at sporting events is probably fueled by alcohol. Not to say there are no sober morons, just that the alcohol doesn't help matters.

I am no fan of prohibition but if you can't watch a round of golf without getting drunk you have a problem.

I wonder if alcohol consumption at golf events was standard back in Hogan/Bobby Jones' day? I am curious as I don't know the answer to this question.

There seems to be a mindset that going to a concert or sporting event is 25% about the event and 75% about drinking a lot.
