Other than being marketed to the JPX crowd, how are the MP-54 irons different looking than the JPX 825 Pro irons?

 

You really can't see a difference???

 

 

Close up promo shots don't even do the difference justice. The real kicker between the two is from address- the JPX will have more offset and a longer blade length. Loft and bounce specifications are also different.

I think you hit the nail on the head with this combo set. i know I couldnt hit the 4's like they are ment to be struck on the longer irons.

I would go with

mp54's 4,5,6
Mp4's 7-p

The MP-4s look great, but are VERY close to the 69s. They switched the locations of the runbird and "Mizuno" logos, and the muscle comes to a bit more of a point (instead of rounding off like the 69s do). Seeing as how the 69s are one of the best blades I've ever hit, I'm glad they didn't depart too far from them. Nothing wrong with a nice refresh. I am curious to see what kind of "technology" they tout in these, though.

Though I do prefer the large runbird logo in the muscle, I'll be sticking with my 69s

Looks like a good time to pick up a cheap set of 69s. In all seriousness, is there any way for them to improve on the 69? I'd imagine the only changes left to make are more or less cosmetic

MP4s look awesome, however, I am disappointed in the 54s. I thought the 53s were the ugliest MP ever, but now not so sure. They have to realize that less is more and keep the badges off. That's what sets them apart from every other OEM.

so i'm confused. i thought the JPX825 Pros were supposed to be the direct competitor with the AP2s, Rocketbladez Tour, and the XHot Pros. but now they are saying the MP54s are? which is true? whats the major difference between these two clubs???

I game the MP-53s and thought the "new" MP-54 pics were an error.

To me, the difference appears to be that all the irons will have the slot, as opposed to my 53s where the 3 through 7 have the slot, not the 8, 9, PW.

I don't see why anyone who owns the 53s bought a couple of years ago would make the switch... outside of being a true WRX'er

Nice work Mizuno. I'd have to go 4-P MP64 with the 3 MP54 as a driving iron. The MP-4 looks classic (modern).

To my comment above, that's pretty much what the MP-53s are -- slot in 3 through 7 and more offset, more 'blade-like' 8 through PW.

Not saying my 53s look as good as the MP-4s, but I don't see that much of a difference.

SWEEEET Jesus those MP4's are gorgeous but too much club for me so I can't wait to hit the 54's. I hope they improved the turf interaction like the did with the 64's vs the 63's. Time will tell.

Not much you can do to a good blade. At this point, it's just out there to provide a fresh option for guys who exclusively play blades, or are loyal to the brand and need a fresh set/grooves.

I've been told by a mizuno rep the 54 will be in LH. But I wouldn't be surprised if neither of these irons will be made in LH.

Agreed the 54s look like the have an undercut channel like the 52s maybe just in long irons. Basically they have the channel like the 52s with the plastic insert and look like the 53s from the back. Nothing special. Now the Mp4s.....wow beautiful!!!
