The i25 hybrid sets the new standard for cosmetics and appearance IMO. Pics do not do it justice. You have to see it in person.

Hoping for some #s compared to a G25, anyone?
I posted some of that in an earlier post as I had a G25. The difference was much larger than I expected. Here is what I had written...

I hit the i25 line up this week and I fell in love. I expected I would, but the line exceeded my expectations. I gained 3 mph of ball speed on a 7 iron vs my i10.

I was blown away by the driver and my improvement in ball speed. I didn't have the chance to hit the shaft that I will end up with, and once I get the final product it will assuredly give me a few more yards via mph. My first ball with the driver and I hit it a tad towards the toe, it beat my best ball speed on a driver I was custom fit for in the fall. My fittings are excessively detailed, I assure you my G25 Aldila Rip'd NV was maximized for my game. My best ball speed on that driver is 170. I recall once seeing Tiger at 175 mph and have always hoped to get there. The G25 added 4 mph over my previous i20.

So my first swing with i25 pwr 75 s shaft (I play an X with extra tip trimming) was 170.1 mph of ball speed. I look to the PING rep and tell him I missed it, and there's more. I hit the next one a little better and get 173 out of it, then 175, then 177, 178, 178, 175.... I am in love! The spin rate was in line with my G, and once I get my custom shaft I believe I will be hitting it 14-18 yards longer. Did I say I was in love?

I hit the i25 driver today at Golf Galaxy on a somewhat deficient simulator, and tested it against the G25 combo that I played last year. i25 9.5* neutral/ regular PWR 6 shaft as against the G25 9.5* /regular stock shaft.

They were both very close. Once I got going, I was able to get the i25 past the G25, probably because the stock regular shaft is a bit heavier, and helps me in the transition. I was hitting the G25 around 230, and once I got the i25 dialed in, I was getting that out in the high 230's (I'm a bit longer than that on the golf course; not much, but a bit more.) More importantly, I like the feel of the i25 a bit more. So, of course I will buy one, but the final determination will be made on the course, in real world conditions.

I also hit the Big Bertha with the stock Fubuki (probably watered down) regular shaft. That shaft was too light, too soft; I kept pulling the ball. when I got that straightened out, consistency was lacking.

I think that Ping does a very good job with their stock shafts.

To those that had a chance to hit the I25 driver and currently play the Anser:
Thoughts on difference? Does it fall in between G25 and old I20 for forgiveness and spin as some had said?
I like my Phenom shat in Anser - Do Answer shafts work in I25?
Thanks, Mac

Ping said to expect a -425 rpm spin rate vs the g25. I think the anser will still be lower spin

No, I think it was -431. haha.

The i25 is a lower spin drive than the anser according to ping. But higher MOI.

Will be an interesting comparison to the Anser

I've had more experience with the I25 driver since my last comments. I have seen several other fittings with the I25 against other clubs. It continues to fare well. Today it beat the X2 hot from Callaway in a side by side from a gentleman who came in for the Callaway. He would've never thought of PING because "they seem like a yesterday company." While his comments illustrated the views of a golf newcomer who had been bit by the over commercialized Callaway, he bombed the ball. He hit some of the longest shots we've ever seen in our monitor. We have a pin on a green at 350 yards, and he got it darn close at 348 and on the front edge of the green. I've heard that green had been reached by a pro and another bomber of the ball, but I had never witnessed it. Tonight I saw it, with the I25.

I've had a few other folks hit it well. Nothing extraordinary to report in those fittings, but the I25 was in the mix of best performer in every test. In my own testing I have not had a hitting session as good as my first. However I think that has more to do with the fact that I had spent 4 days recovering from my last workout on that day. Since then I have been in the gym every other day. I was loose in the first fitting session and in none since. When it's warm out I have an hour or more of stretching/yoga on the day before and the morning of any round of golf.

My recent ball speeds have been

I25 at 153-171 mph (18 balls)
My G25 is doing 150-166 (12 balls)
the Razr Fit Extreme is doing 143-158 (8 balls)
and the Titleist 913 D3 148-162 (6 balls).

I hit the 15* 3-wood, tuned to the "+" position, yesterday with the stock stiff shaft. I am a regular shaft guy, especially with fairway woods. Sometimes I play stiff in the driver, because I am in-between. But, anyway, I hit the 15* 3-wood with the stiff shaft, and I was hitting it very consistently, just a bit to the right. Go figure, the shaft was a tad stiff. But, the club felt great.

I will pick up one with a regular shaft; it could replace my G25 3-wood.

I'm glad that the hoi polloi get's all excited about the latest TaylorMade and Callaway offerings. The really good stuff, and that includes the stock shafts, are coming out of Ping and Titleist these days.

But Callaway and TaylorMade at your peril.

What is your driver swing speed? While I play a stiff driver, I play my irons stiff, but soft-stepped once. I am wondering what the stock Regular "tipped" a 1/2" would do toward making this fairway an R+? I like my fairway woods to play a tad bit looser than a stiff.

Driver swing speed 95, or thereabouts.

I did not find the stiff shaft in the i25 3-wood that stout.

I just hit a demo i25 at GS tonight. Absolutely Incredible. Spin was just as low as SLDR (1900-2400rpms) but had one thing the SLDR lacks, Feel. I loved the PWR 65 Tour-Stiff it felt really stable . Its the best feeling and longest driver for me out of this years releases, but i haven't hit the bertha line yet. This i25 is a cannon.

I have had some good tests w the i25 driver
Its longer than anything out this year
But i wouldnt know what shaft to go with

I tested best w the tour x 75 pwr
But thats heavier and stiffer than i have ever played
I just have this feeling it would nt translate on the course

Gut is telling me to order 65 tour x in the driver and tour 75 x in the fwy
I was spinning the stock stiff too much

But still on the fence w this all as my current set up is also really really good

Did a fitting for the whole line today. Fell in love with the three wood, just looks so good at setup. Hybrids are incredibly anti left. 3 degrees flatter than g25 hybrids. Driver was giving me decent numbers but I've got a sneaky suspicion SLDR will beat it on the course.

Those ball speed numbers look fantastic . I am in Sydney so we won't get a chance to try the i25s for at least another week or so .
I have a G25 9.5 with a GD Tour AD-GT6X that is great but I would love a bit less spin !
Does the I 25 launch as well as the G25 ( I imagine it would be a touch lower ) ?
Also did you try or are you going to try the I 25 head in the shaft you had fitted for your G 25 ?
Thanks for the great feedback .

saw the i25 in person today, the lines on the driver are very subdued, actually kind of liked them. Going to have to put it up against the anser - tete-a-tete see which one wins, sets up very nice though

Anser looks smaller at address (I know they are both 460cc, I think b.c. of the lines on top it makes the i25 look larger), I do not sole the driver, but the i25 sets on ground better than the anser. The 9.5* GRANTED i only saw one 9.5* i25 doesnt look as closed as the other anser 9.5* heads that I have seen in the past, IMOP.
