Gotta love the kids post round interview, brutally honest with himself and I doubt he will really be thinking that hard about it. Seemed very confident in his words and honest about the fact it was just a bad round. Anywhere you don't want to hit it, he found himself there, admitted to the type of greens being his weakness, he didn't seem concerned, just disappointed and ready to forget about it.

What's your thoughts about it? Does it raise any concern to how he will perform in the future that the number 1 player in the world can easily shoot a 79?

Not trying to stir up a storm here so keep it clean!

He played bad and putted bad, didn't seem like he was in full grind mode. Understandable, bad rounds happen I'm sure he'll be alright.

I think it shows what happens when the best putter in the world putts below average

I've never been impressed with his golf swing, and his game tee to green. Today he showed his deficiencies in his driving ability, and he wasn't able to salvage something with what has been his superb putting.

Agree with everyone thus far. He's usually great at putting up a decent score when if you watched him play you wouldn't think he played that great. Not going to post well when your best thing (putting) is really off and then everything else is questionable.

Serves him right for wearing a golf shirt with "Under Armour" embroidered on his back right shoulder. What's next -- the full NASCAR look?

O.K. here ya go: as I have previously opined, I think he is burnt out, and will now come back to reality. He's mature and had a ton of moxie, but my eyes don't see him in the same league long term as Rory or Ricky or Day. I see a top 30 player, who for about 18 months putted like nothing i have ever seen before. Not just "clutch" but dropping improbable bombs over and over. I just don't think he is "special" enough in any other facet of the game for sustained dominance. I cannot believe you can continue to live off of the putting like he has.

Ultimately not too different from Luke Donald. I am not hating on, just saying he's not a "5 tool player", Ricky, Rory and Jason are. Either of them can get "hot" with the putter.....Jordan can't get "hot" with the driver and gain 20 yards or get "hot" with his mid-irons and raise his apex 15 ft.

Just my heartfelt opinion for the purposes of the inter-web.

Last year will almost certainly be the best year of his career. That's not saying he'll have a bad career moving forward but to top last year he'd have to win 3 legs of the grand slam, how many people have done that? I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up with 2 majors or maybe 10, could go either way. He cant putt like he did last year for next 20 years. Even after a year like last there are many questions surrounding his long term prognosis.

Yep. The #1 player in the world has the swing of a 10 handicap and won two majors because he got hot with a putter.

Sometimes golf happens. Every round isn't going to be elite. Today was one of those days, end of story.

I disagree with people saying he was only on fire last year because of an impossibly hot putter, over the course of last year he ranked higher in strokes gained tee to green than he did in strokes gained putting. Kyle Porter wrote an article comparing the big 4 golfers to the big 4 in mens tennis. He compared Jordan to Djok, perfect comparison in my mind, doesn't look incredible but is just so relentless and dialled in.
It will certainly be interesting to see how things turn out. I hope for the best because I personally love watching him play. Good to have a great player who isn't the longest hitter out there and destroys a course with ball striking.

I think his game will continue to mold as he gets older since he is so young but I do agree, it will be hard to have his putting that hot as frequent as it was.

Can't believe what I'm reading......he's had a one bad round...he's finished....never been impressed with his swing..tee to green game etc. Does he have the big, in your face smash the golf course to pieces game of Rory et al....no.....does he do all the boring stuff brilliantly and scores..yep. Maybe not the ideal game for selling loud lime green and silver golf gear or stupid flat bill caps to kids but pretty effective at winning golf tournaments!

Slow your roll chief! No ones saying that, I for one am a huge spieth fan. However, it is discussion worthy IMO to talk about what brings about a 79 and a round where nothing is pretty to watch for the number 1 player in the world.
You guys do realize he ranked 4th in strokes gained tee to green last year right??? And that that stat has absolutely nothing to do with putting right???

Now that they're both over, who's career do you wish you had? Tiger's or Jordan's ?

It's not as simple as it sounds. Jordan's only 22, he'll have all the coming years to be retired and spend his millions.

Jordan Spieth does not have a bad swing. He has a quirky way of holding on through the hitting zone, but it's not a bad swing.
