This whole video is just fascinating to me. The fact that they are playing Putt-Putt for $18,000.00. The commentary. The fact that there is a gallery. The clothes. The fact that someone dressed in a giant golf ball costume follows them around for most of the match.

It's just amazing to watch.

1. I can definitely get behind the idea of a 1 putt and pick up.

2. No respect the for the other guys' line. Walking all over the course.

How does one come across this video in the first place? lol

It popped up in my recommended videos. Not sure what algorithm Youtube was using to come up with that, but here we are.

That video is awesome. I posted something about that a long time ago. I can't believe there was an actual putt putt pro league

The organized sport itself is called Miniature Golf and one of my regular playing partners used to be among the elite players internationally. It is funny that he is not a particularily good putter in real golf (but has full swing to die for).

He says putting in Golf and Miniature Golf cannot be compared, because in Miniature Golf you get to practice the exact shot over an over again, until you know it by heart. Reading real greens on a proper golf course on the other hand requires a compeletely different skill.

I see a gap. There definitely is a gap.

I played in tournaments as a kid at a Putt-Putt near my home. I think I still have a PPA 'Professional Putters Association' ball I used somewhere. Supposedly had a steel core so it rolled pure. They also had PPA putters you could buy. I finished 2nd at like fiove or six of them, never won one. Twice I lipped out on 18 on the first putt when I needed to ace to tie for the lead. Now the old Putt-Putt course is a parking lot for a store. Good times.

So I guess I'm the only one here who has played in Putt-Putt tournaments...

I won three ot four of those as a kid when I was 11 or 12, beat a lot of people but all I won was a couple of free lunches and some video game tokens, not $18K. Good stuff!

These pros get all the breaks. They should play on tracks like we have to. On my home putt-putt course there's ripped carpeting, and cups with all ragged edges, and kids running around screaming!

Serious question (if that's possible). On Hole #7 (8:50 mark) looks like a straight in putt, but they're all banking it.

Check out the book "Andy Roddick Beat Me With a Frying Pan", where the ESPN author puts forth several "tests" to hard hitting sports questions, such as "can andy roddick beat me with a frying pan?" and "How well would a PGA tour player play in putt-putt".

Rocco Mediate actually took up the challenge!

My father-in-law is a two time national champ and was inducted into the PPA hall of fame in 1993.

When I was growing up the sports options were limited because there were only like 3-4 channels (only 2 if it was raining) and this is one of those things that I would watch on Sunday afternoon.

A typical Sunday consisted of going to church, eating lunch at my grandmother's house (she made the best fried chicken) and then we'd watch some kind of sports. Often it was the NFL or the NBA, but when those weren't on the PPA tournaments typically were. Later in the afternoon, my dad and I would go to the course where we were members and play.

Wow, what a blast from the past...

I'm laughing that this thread is in "tour talk". lol.

Hey Now, that's because you do not understand what was at stake in the tournaments I played in! If you won you got a trophy, maybe a PPA putter or a sleeve of balls and most importantly three or four high school girls were watching and the winner usually left for the DQ with one of them. Shorts were not so tight and short back then but they were attractive.

That's why I am still peeved I never won one :fie: .

I am impressed by the $18k purse, that's for sure!

So why are these guys banking some of these shots when it looks like it's unnecessary?
