Exotics EX10 3 wood = wow!

monkeyboy

Recommended Posts

Just got one with an Aldila Rogue Silver 70 S shaft.

What a combo! (for my swing)

The thing is a hammer off the tee and very forgiving/easy to hit from the deck. Lots of giddyup on this bad boy.

A bit of a hollow sound at impact but the ball goes. Beats the crap out of my Titleist 913F (but I had the wrong shaft for me in that one). Dispersion is tremendous, I can swing as hard as I want.

Great club, may be the last of the lefties for Exotics....If they made a LH EX10 driver I would probably buy it right now.

I love my tour ex9, any one have any experience with both of them?

EX9 Tour is one of the longest FW I’ve played and pretty forgiving. EX10 has my favorite head shape and very forgiving, long but not as long as EX9 Tour.

Can’t go wrong with either.

I play a strong 3 and 4 wood Ex10 Beta and I love them also. Long and straight, great looking at address. Turf interaction is very good. I'm picky when it comes to fairway woods and Im really happy with them.

Anyone playing the Ex10 (non beta) that doesn't like the sound try putting some cotton in the head it fixes that problem.

First round in play. Used it for 4 tee shots and one from the deck.

Amazingly straight, beautiful ballflight, great distance. Incredible club. Definite game changer.

Tee it low, it is like a machine.

Food for thought.

If this brand of club was so "wow" why don't I see them on the big tours. I know, it's all about sponsorship money, that I get, but what about the new trend of players playing with minimal club sponsors so they can choose to play whatever suits there eye better?

Despite spelling it wrong - "their" - you said it yourself. It suits *their* eye better. It doesn't necessarily suit the OP's eye better.

The OP is a 10 cap. He is closer to someone who has never swung a golf club before than a touring professional. They should be looking for different things in clubs.

Just sharing my experiences...and to me, the main difference was getting into a better fit shaft for my swing. The head is great too, but I imagine that I could get similar results from a handful of heads with this same shaft.

I had the EX8 Beta....until I caved it in.... Sent it to Tour Edge and they sent me a brand new EX9 Tour (no questions asked super fast legit lifetime warranty) I know that you don't see a lot of them on tour but the thing is an absolute beast.....do yourself a favor and try one out... I have a 70g X Silver and mine and not only is it the straightest fairway I have ever played but the longest.... If it has to go down the middle....EX9 is in my hand.

Atleast a dozen guys on the champions tour gaming TEE. My honest opinion as to why the PGA guys don't bag them:

1. Even though most guys may appear to have no equipment deals or contracts, they will get paid "tee up" money for having it in play by X company.

2. It's long..... Guys on the PGA tour look for consistency and gapping between clubs. So just because all of us mortals can hit it as far as a driver, that is not necessarily what tour pros would like as it would leave a large gap down to their 5 wood, 3 iron, 2 iron etc.... Ex: if x PGA pro hits driver 325 yards, why would he also want a 3 wood that pushes over 310+?

3. Not to many guys on tour need to bag a super long 3 wood if they are having an off day with their driver which seems to be the case with us mortals here. I know from my own experience that if I have a bad day with the big dog, the 3 wood comes out to play for the rest of the day instead.

Once again. all IMO

Has anyone compared the EX10 to the CBX? I have the CBX and love it, but if the EX10 or 9 is longer and straighter I may have to look into it.

The XCG5 was my favorite set of fairway woods ever (currently game the Adams TL II Ti). It's sad to see them giving up on lefties.

If you want long, I'd stay with CBX if it fits - supposed to be longer, less spinning, etc. but not too forgiving. I just picked up a EX10 Beta 16.5 head; have a shaft ... let's see how it compares with Rogue.

I'll be interested, too. Would have bought one in the fall, but it's less forgiving than the EX10 Fwys - had success with the 5 wd EX10, but Rogue felt so good from the get go - need to hop on Trackman and compare. Ordered an EX10 Beta 5 wd head during the winter but UPS crushed it in shipment. C'est la vie.

Don't know about face depth, the EX10 head is sufficiently deep, but the biggest differences besides the Titanium head in the Beta is the length from front to back - longer in the EX10 for higher MOI, and the Beta has less spin. I am also told the Beta has a more lively feel, which would be welcome.

I have the E8 beta with the Rogue black and par fives are fun again. I could care less what the pros play!! The last thing the pros need is distance - Day hit an iron 290 yards this weekend..??

The combination of great shafts and hittability off the deck makes this a winner for me - just need something that goes somewhere towards the hole 225 -250 yards.

Its money. Nothing more than that. Money is behind virtually everything on the PGA Tour.

Tour Edge has historically not done pay-for-play, so they see little to no usage on the PGA Tour. The stories of what Tour Players expect to be compensated for are legendary (gross generalization alert).

I have a 15* EX9 Long 3, and it's comical how long this club is.

If I hit a good drive with my M2, it's about a 275-280 yard poke. A good shot with my Long 3 is right behind it by 5-10 yards.

I really don't use it that much off the deck, but it does fine. I prefer to hit my 16* Kasco K2K 33 off the ground, but the Long 3 does fine in a pinch.

I am contemplating a EX10 in 16.5* because of you people.

  • 4 weeks later...

So I picked up an ex10 beta in 15* w a rogue max 75x in it and this is the low launch low spin max shaft- but I had to work to get my launch right off the tee, otherwise it would balloon. I haven’t seen anyone mention this in the forums. Anyone have any insight??

Edit:

Please note in the last year I have gone from a PT13* w an x100 to a 904f 15* w a rombax x to testing this out. I choked down to 42†as well. I feel like I should see a marked improvement in ease of use and distance w the Exotics, but right now it’s not there. Could this have anything to do w headweight or does this somehow fall on my flawless swing haha. Please help, I just want to be a happy ho!
