I lucked out and got the OK to get one the mats from my club’s driving range. It’s lockdown and no one is allowed down to the range but I now happily have one in the back garden.

Just a heads up, I ordered a set from Rukket on 3/27 and it seems like they still haven't shipped. Their twitter mentions are a mess right now as well with similar stories. Not sure what happened but they have told me "other products are being prioritized right now." Not really sure what that means since I dont think they are making masks or anything dealing with the virus.

Thanks guys for the replies - this has been working for me for over 10 years. Regarding mat - I am fortunate a friend works at Top Golf. So yes I did dig up the spot in the grass, lay gravel and build a box with treated 1x2's. This has worked really well - has survived the harsh Midwest winters. I do take out the rubber tee.

Regarding the net itself, again keep in mind I'm what some call cheap. I started with a more expensive version, that lasted about a month or two. Then again I do use this almost every night when I'm in town and not traveling. Walmart sells a practice net for $19,95. I have found that works and will last the season - i use two of them together. (but I'm 65 this year and my ball speed is not like the rest of yours, so I can get by doing it this way!)

It's 1" pvc, and use ties to hold it up. I used to use shower rings, don't remember why I went to the ties. It's pointed over the fence, so when an errant side ways shot might get thru it just goes to the field behind me. And every 10-12 shots I can take full swings to insure proper mechanics are working.

I just enjoy swinging and in normal times can listen to a ball game. Also the back yard facing away from the shed measures just over 50 yards so I'm working on short game as much if not more the full swing. But this works for me, and has helped my game a ton. Again the claim to fame here is none other than Monte himself has had a chance to hit into this during his Chicago clinics.

Ordered my Rukket last Friday from them directly. Got an email saying it shipped that same day, which I thought was unlikely based on the covid 19 notification on their site. Which said amazon orders were going to be too backed up, so they loaded up in their warehouse to handle orders during this time. They're a small company but they said they can get it out faster than amazon could. I got another email yesterday thanking me for my patience and shipping info would be coming soon. That came today and tracking says it's coming this Friday, which would be pretty great, under the circumstances.

Ordered mine from Rukket, priority shipping over two weeks ago. Was supposed to arrive last week but did not. I emailed asking a refund for the priority shipping. It took a few days to get a response, but they refunded. Net was scheduled for yesterday delivery but turns out Rukket didn't have my unit number on the address (wtf?), so back to the FedEx facility. Had to frantically call them to get them to drop it off at a FedEx On Site delivery location.

So possibly today I may receive my net... maybe. Which means I have to go out in public, again.

I've been debating whether to get a rukket net or not. As I waited the net I considered pulling the trigger on was sold out. My dad is similarly going through golf withdrawals and he asked to help him find a net. I ordered #18 3/4 inch net from justfornets and he will build the frame out of PVC. Once he gets the net I will report back on the quality.

I ordered a net and a mat yesterday from playgosports.com yesterday. They are located in So Cal. They shipped yesterday and I am scheduled to receive the delivery Thursday April 9th. For reference I live in Nor Cal. Net 7' X 7' and mat totaled $140 with free shipping. Seems like a good deal but we'll see once I receive the products.

Finally received everything today. I picked up some gym flooring from Home Depot and cut a notch out for the mat to drop in. Actually works really well, almost exactly level with the turf and no movement after impact. Pretty psyched. Now just have to get used to swinging in a garage.

This is the flooring I used: https://www.homedepot.com/p/TrafficMASTER-Black-25-4-in-x-25-4-in-x-0-68-in-Shock-Absorbing-Gym-Floor-4-Pack-24182COPLHD/301152527

I lucked out I guess and ordered the Rukket Haack net from Amazon a few weeks ago, and the Fiberbuilt Mat from Costco. It cost me $400 total for both, but I highly recommend both. They are both very good quality.

That said, I admire the ingenuity of some of you guys on here with your net and mat DIY sets. Nice job, guys!

I have the exact same set up. The FiberBuilt mat is really excellent.

However, I'm less impressed with the Haack net, which has questionable durability. The first net I had developed a hole within the first two months of use, and that was using no more than an 8 iron. To be fair they did send me a free replacement, so I have no complaints about the customer service.

Unfortunately after a summer outside, even taking it down when not in use, the top red edge of the net basically disintegrated, meaning the net collapsed. When the one I have now goes the same way, I'll be looking elsewhere - perhaps the Amazon Basics one, which is wider at the top (helpful for someone prone to throwing in a sh**k or two, such as me).

Also another well known golf site is about to do a comprehensive review of hitting nets, so keep a look out for that.

Sorry to hear that. I’ve only used my Haack net once, so I can’t comment on its durability (or lack thereof). It seems to be solidly made, however, and well designed. It is easy to set up and take down, and fits in its bag nicely. I definitely plan to take it down when not in use, so as to preserve its netting, but sounds like you did the same and it didn’t help.

The Fiberbuilt mat is so nice. I didn’t buy it for a long time because it looks like the hitting surface is above your feet on its pictures on Costco’s website. That would be a non-starter. Plus, it looked like the ends of it were raised up I assumed because it was trying to help you prevent swaying. Anyway, it’s pictures lead you to believe that it is one of those “golf aids” that may or may not be helpful, that also has a mat with a raised and too fluffy lie. But none of that is true. It has a flat lie (it might be a fraction of an inch above, but that mimics grass conditions). The hitting surface is top notch, better than any mat I’ve ever hit off of. And the surface you stand on is both flat and “comfy” but durable. It ain’t cheap, but I highly recommend it.

I must be searching wrong but do you have a link to the net at Walmart that seems to work so well for you? I'm having no luck finding anything promising.

Thanks, I was looking at that one wondering if you just used the netting and combined it with your PVC frame.

I was also thinking that hooking in an old towel or something at the impact area would increase the longevity.
