Hank Haney takes shot at Tiger

I don’t see how saying a Korean is going to win is racist .... race has nothing to do with nationality

Except it wasn't.

Β

Haney is a moron. The fact that he ended up being "right" doesn't change that.

Had he said..."You know, I don't have much knowledge on the LPGA these days and would have a hard time naming 6 players. However, I do know that Korea has a national program that is developing some outstanding male and female players and it wouldn't surprise me to see one of the many strong players contend" then he'd be OK.

Β

Β

BTW, I have applied to be the ambassador to Switzerland.

Β

Bingo. Not sure why this is so hard for some to grasp. If you completely marginalize a group of people and take away all of their individualism (especially in an individual sport), there will be flak.

Β

What if he predicted the the next PGA tour winner will be a spoon fed country club raised elitist *****. I bet some folks on here would get their panties in a bunch.

Taking a shot at Tiger ten years after, and when he at least appears to have learned and changed was a little but cheap.

Β

Every time Hank has tweeted since last Wednesday he has only demonstrated that he doesn't even understand where he went wrong.

Β

I think in a lot of ways Haney's show has run its course. Now its spent hawking his pain relief cream, bashing the USGA (sometimes well deserved, but without any real suggestions on how to do things differently), and telling callers that would like help that they have to tell him abut their ball flight in order for him to help, and then running out of time to actually help, as he needs to get back to selling pain relief cream.

>

> And the horribly thick irony that’s connected from his words to the winners name plus nick name. It’s jist too much to not mention. The young lady literally has an addendum to her name to differentiate between the more than 10 others with the same name (6). Not just the sir name. The whole name is same as many others. What he said proved to be more correct than anyone could imagine. Why do we have issue with pointing out the Korean domination ? Why do we have issue with pointing out that a lot of the Korean players have the same name ? This world truly has jumped the shark. And it pains me to even remotely defend Haney. His crime was pointing out the obvious with an absolutely true Nostradamus type prediction.

Β

LOL no kidding @bladehunter ! Why is it that some have an issue with Haney pointing out Korean domination of women's golf? They are dominant because they EARNED IT! Add to that, not only are there a lot of Lee's, but she is the 6th "Jeongeun Lee" in KLPGA history hence Lee6! I think you nailed it that the world has jumped the shark!

Β

What I do find disappointing with Haney's statement is him broadcasting to a wide audience his lack of interest in the women's golf (even if he really isn't interested, keep it to himself). Golf would be better served with Haney being an ambassador and encouraging participation and interest in all levels of golf and save the snide comment like "oh it is? to himself.

I am almost positive that some exec at Sirius/XM is in Hank's ear right now egging him on.

You’re probably not wrong. I had no idea there was pga coverage on Sirius until this story broke.

Glove: ML
Tees: 2 3/4
Towel: white
Repair tool: metal
Ball Marker: largest poker chip in the world
Iron headcovers: wait, what?

So would Tiger. Tiger doesn't benefit from trashing Haney.

Finding myself at the point where I can see Hank's point but did it need to be said? Absolutely not. Someone in his position should know better.

Tiger was asked a question and he answered it.

Β

Haney in deep doodoo and I can't imagine he expects TW to throw him a life saver.

Β

I hadn't even heard this happened until Haney made his weak swing at TW. Now, he just insured that millions more know about this.

He was directly asked a question. Was he supposed to say β€œno comment”?

Β

The reality is it depends on who said it. If Charles Barkley said a black guy would have the best time, nothing would be said. In fact, it would be laughed at and rightfully so.

Β

Haney didn't say anything a lot of us haven't. Popularity for the LPGA has gone down in the US because the Asians dominate. It is what it is. Popularity for men's tennis has been down because there are no Americans who win. And when Serena retires, women's tennis will be in trouble as well unless an American steps up.

Β

As for Tiger's comments, he should have left it alone. It should have gone like this:

Reporter: Tiger, did you see Hank Haney's comments in regards to the LPGA.

Tiger: I did and they were unfortunately. However, I've had my own issues in the past and I'm not the guy to condemn anybody.

I would have respected that answer. Instead, he answered the way he did and I rolled my eyes. If Tiger wanted to take a shot at Haney because of the book, then okay. Otherwise, he should have taken the high road.
