Counter Balanced Driver Shaft

Looking to try a counter balanced shaft in my g 410 plus. Wondering if anyone has any recommendations for shafts they like. I preferably would like something with mid-high/mid-high or mid/mid around 60g in weight.

Any of the Tensei shafts are worth a try. What shaft is in there now? You can usually find the "shaft pulls" on ebay fairly cheap. You will be told by MANY people on here that you shouldn't use the "made for" shafts, they are not the same, the aftermarket are better, etc... Tensei shafts have recently come on Mizuno ST 180/190, and I believe some Pings actually. Good luck on your search. Look up some specs on them and see what "fits" you better. The blue seems to be the standard that come on most drivers, kind of the all around shaft. As a 20 handicap, make sure whatever shaft you get you purchase your preferred/honest flex. Dont get something too stiff. Make sure to get something that is easier to load. It will be better for you to be able to make a natural swing than having to load the shaft to get anything out of it.

You're describing the stock Alta shaft. Reg is 59 gm, stiff is 63 gm. Lots of other possibilities as well so might need more info if you really want a helpful recommendation.

 

What are you playing in it now? What problems do you have that you want to fix? Or what are you expecting or hoping that a shaft change would give you?

Tensei Orange 'pull' on ebay is about $80

HZRDUS Yellow 'pull' on ebay is about the same

Fujikura PRO XLR8 NEW on ebay is like $24

Fujikura PRO 2.0 'pull' on ebay is about $100

Aldila Tour Blue is CB'ed and very cheap to get. VA Comps just released a shaft (or is about to release it...) that they claim is the most CB'ed shaft on the market but is priced much much higher.

I'm willing to spend up $200 for the shaft. I'm currently gaming the M5 with fujikura speeder evo V. I picked up the g 410 to tinker with in the offseason mainly because of wanting to try counter balanced shafts and I've read it's a good head for that. My main goal would be to see if it increase any club head or ball speed for me compared to my M5.

Theoretically.... CB'ing shouldn't really increase your CHS and I've personally found it to actually reduce my CHS because it's always paired up with a heavier head. Anyway... $$ spent doesn't equal performance gains. Start with something like a Tour Blue/Green that you can literally buy brand new on eBay for like $50. If you get an itch for something else... Rogue Black/silver are pretty CB'ed and are newer/pricier. Don't spend more than like... $100 on a shaft IMO if you are doing it blindly. I've got like 05 shafts probably valued at $1000 bucks right now sitting in the corner of my office because I blind purchased and couldn't resell them yet, or got sh!t offers. Don't be me... Unless you have a big pile of money you don't mind spending.

I'm loving my TENSEI Ck Pro Orange! I play it with an M3 head at 46" (no tipping). The corresponding swing weight is D4.

 

The high-end "Pro" models go on Ebay for between $150 and $300 depending on whether you want new or used.

 

I got a brand new 60-TX for my driver for about $265, but I was also able to obtain a couple used models to experiment with in my fairways for about $175 each.

I had the stock Alta in a Ping G and really liked that shaft. Not everyone does, but it's a place to start.

Aldila xtorsion copper TX. If you're swinging anything above 105 take a look if you're not super fast on the transition. Plenty of reviews from tollbros on the site and eBay has a few. Killer mid launch/lowish spin. If you're below 105, the normal flexes can be had for even cheaper and launch more appropriately from the reviews I've read per your swing speed
