I will never understand the hate for Bryson on here. There is nothing wrong with being smart. Honestly, we need more smart people. And he's a little different, so what? He's not hurting anybody. He's not hurting the game. He's not hurting the tour. He's got a pretty impressive resume for someone his age, and does not deserve the constant ridicule.

I don't think it's being thrown in our face. I'm much more irritated by people giggling about how dumb they are. I have people in my family who seem proud of how dumb they are. That is much worse.

First, love the picture. Silicon Valley is one of the greatest TV shows ever in my opinion.

 

I don't personally see how he's "always throwing it in people's faces". He' a public figure and people ask him about it and he answers appropriately. I don't think if people made such a big deal out of his SLI he might mention it from time to time in an interview but thats it. The issue you have is that people want to know about that stuff so they ask him. Sure he had his little snafu with the USGA and the putter where he kinda lost it, but I'll write some of that up to him being so young. If you think he's constantly "throwing it in your face" you probably didn't like him from the get go and now every time Bryson comes up he's the smart a** golfer...

 

I follow him on IG and he almost never talks about physics or anything a person could misconstrue as a "how smart he is" comment, but lots of positive comments and swing videos or pimping his sponsors.

He's a goofball that thinks he can "solve golf". But is that even true? Has he said that?

 

NO! Not as far as I know.

 

He uses a unique playing style that requires unique equipment and thought process.

 

Does anyone on this site carry a 64* wedge? A driver under 8.5*? Frantically review their gaps wondering why they missed a green from 215 out?

Give me a break. Just because he possesses adequate intelligence doesn't mean we should celebrate elements about his personality that are annoying by standard measure. Most notably the desire he clearly has to draw attention to himself in any way possible. He lacks self awareness and unfortunately for him his sponsors are going to chew him up and spit him out onto the public before he has a chance to prove that his "smarts" translate to any kind of significant success on tour. He made himself an easy target by focusing on bs outside of golf as part of his schtick and now he has to live up to it.
