So I just happened to be in the Houston area last month and stopped by the academy.  @Schneeseemed to be pretty happy in his new position (kid in candy store, pinching himself LOL). Nice high tech setup with lots of bays and customers filling them.  If you can't get straightened out their, you might as well drop your clubs onto (or into) the Bay.

We haven’t had a golf club post here in a while! 
 

Mostly because I’ve been a fairly reformed club ho. My game has been in a good place the last couple seasons so I haven’t chased new equipment all that often. 
 

I decided to get some new irons this year for a couple reasons. First, my 714AP2 have gotten pretty worn. They also don’t have the best turf interaction for me down here off Bermuda fairways. Also, I’m a little tired of swinging S400 both from a joint/feedback standpoint and a weight standpoint. I’ve hit quite a few balls with MMT 105TX in the Callaway x forged CB, and it’s a great shaft. 
 

So, I went with Callaway TCB 4-PW with MMT 105TX. +1/2” length and +2° upright. Also switched grips to midsize Align MCC instead of +4’s. 
 

Initial results are very pleasing. Played well with them this week, 14 GIR in their first outing. Feel can best be described as solid. They’re not super soft like a mizuno or miura, but the feedback is nice and the sound is nice. 
 

Launch angle is down 3-4° compared to my 714AP2, spin is similar to a touch higher which is a positive. Carry is up about 5 yards on average as well. Just a flatter ballflight and much tighter dispersion. 
 

I like them a lot because they’re a nice small cavity back, a thinner sole and look good at address without being overly intimidating, especially in the long irons. They did a nice job with the pitching wedge and short irons too. They blend well. 

I’ll post some pictures of them outside the next time I play.

Earlier this month, I began a new chapter in my journey as the sales rep and mobile club fitter for PXG for the greater Houston area. What started as a quest to improve my own golf game has transformed into an exciting career in the golf industry.

Yesterday I got fit into my employee set of PXG's. I should have them in a few weeks. I'll give you guys a full WITB when I get them, but there were a few surprises in the bag for me. As a ho, well maybe a reformed ho? I'm very excited to get these. I'm especially excited for driver and irons.

I received my new PXG sticks about 10 days after I was fit for them by my boss who is an awesome fitter. I picked them up and got to test them the next day at the #1 course in Texas, Whispering Pines. Here's some pics of the new bats. 

 

 

 

 

 

Here's a breakdown of what I was fit for: 

-0311 Gen5 Driver. 9° with Graphite Design AD TP 6X Tipped 1/2”
-0311 Gen5 15° 3W, Graphite Design AD TP 7X
-0311 Gen5 19° Hybrid with Mitsubishi Tensei AV Raw White 90X
-0311T Gen 5 4-W, Dynamic Gold X100 2° Flat, +1/2”
-Sugar Daddy II 50° BP, 54° BP (bent to 55°) and 58° C grind (bent to 60°) playing single length at 35 3/4”, all with X100
-Battle Ready Bat Attack 35”, M16 Putter Shaft. 

Generally, my miss is a pull or pull draw I wanted to eliminate the left as much as I could with this setup. Heavier weight shafts, flatter lies, and heavier swingweights. All things I've fit myself into previously. 

I'm extremely excited with the putter, coming from Spider with BGT Stability Tour. M16 is just as good, if not better, and 1/3 of the price. 

I was also surprised for a hybrid to get back in my bag because we haven't gotten along. The ability to adjust weighting and the flat setting on the PXG adapter mean the hookiness of hybrids is gone. 

Driver shaft was also a surprise. Ventus Blue was a good fit (my most recent driver shaft) but I wanted to try something different (I still have my Ventus Blue and can try it in driver). We got me into AD TP tipped 1/2 just to stiffen the tip section. For me, the miss with driver tends to be a block more than a hook. Stiffer tip section is helping face stay more square and helping it turn over. Historically I haven't like the feel of tipped shafts, but trackman results showed I absolutely needed it. 

I've played them one round and a few range sessions and am thoroughly impressed thus far. Excited to put them through their paces more extensively.

Howdy WRX'ers. It's been a minute, hasn't it? Wanted to pop in and give an update. A lot has changed since my last post, including my WITB. 

The end of November of last year, I accepted an offer with Titleist, and I am now the Senior Associate Club Fitting Professional covering Atlanta, Athens, and Augusta Georgia. It's always been a dream to wear the Titleist script, and I truly feel blessed to have this opportunity. I couldn't be here without some great mentors and friends!

I've been living in Atlanta since the beginning of the year and just rounded out my bag so I figured I would share. I learned a ton during my time in Houston, TX and honestly will miss so many friends, customers, and colleagues I've met there. If anyone wants to tee it up in the Atlanta area, give me a shout!

A "blast from the past"! It is great to hear that you are doing well in your career...Titleist definitely is "top of the heap" and quite an accomplishment. On a more somber note- I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your Mom. It is a nice remembrance and tribute to keep her close as you do the thing that you love.
