Worked with a Major Champion today on dialing in his 915 for The Open Championship. He asked me to take a look at head, loft, shaft, setting, etc. Also worked on fairway woods, hybrids and 714 AP2 vs 712U long irons trying to get any edge for this coming week... he certainly knows what it takes to get it done over there.

Head looks fantastic and really performs too....

915 went right in the bag-- Fujikura Pro was the shaft that made the gamer.

One thing I wanted to say-- amazing how much subtle change there is setting to setting, head to head, loft to loft when the guy swinging the club can repeat, repeat, repeat....

The mystery player has won this event before. You could say he's ben there and done that.

Yes, but it is fun to speculate.

I'll go with Ben Curtis. We won't know until we spot said player with the Fuji Pro shaft. I'll keep my eyes open.

It had less to do with the player it was-- just wanted to show a couple "in-hand" pics that aren't GolfWRX photos.

Also-- the driver is great.... when guys are switching that fast you know its fantastic. I figured the conversation would be more geared toward the driver and its performance and not the player that was hitting it.... Lol.

I could be wrong but there was a thread in this shaft in the past week or two and it was concluded by the WRX community that it was an inferior shaft and not worthy of a place in the backup bag

It looks like a D2 for sure, longer back than a D3. Also might explain the loft at 8.5 as that head typically hits it higher. I think the combo looks fantastic, I really can't wait to start trying this driver. I know I've said this before, but this thing looks like it will be amazing to hit and I could get better numbers than what I currently play. It would have to in order to get into the bag, but the looks are good.

JW,
I can't really tell from the photos and the lighting might be effecting this but is the speckled paint a bit shinier this year? Also, can you comment as to the shape compared to last year? Longer, deeper face, same shape? Pictures really don't tell much, I was thinking since you've seen it up close...

Great Pics by the way.

No need to apologize. With the way the post was worded it was inevitable that people would try to guess who it was. He could have just said "tour player" and left it at that.

Because of the low spin, will we see people 'lofting up'?
I think it can be lower spin without going obscenely super low spin. It has gotten out of hand with all the low spin wants to be honest...there is a spin that is right for every player out there, and most of them aren't 1600-1900! Most players will get the best overall ball flight out of something in the 13-14.5* LA and 2200-2600 rpm rate for their normal playing conditions and still have control and forgiveness. Just an opinion.

No, I think that you make a fair point, and I happen to agree with it. And it makes sense what you say, that the 915 may well be a little lower spin than the 913, but not insanely low, as you say.

As free lunches don't exist, what did this do to your lateral dispersion? I recognize that both of you are better ball strikers than most and a banana ball either way is probably pretty rare but did you see more movement than with the 913 head?

They must have stolen that low forward CG "technology" from Tmag.
Very original thinking we haven't heard that comment yet LOL. Nothing like TM or Callaway weight forward, you might want to look at the picture, the weight is clearly in the rear of the club to maintain MOI which is the weakness of the SLDR and BBA. I hope it's not as low spin as the SLDR but 150 to 250 less than the 913 yet maintaining the high MOI.

There has been 30 pages of speculation so no one is actually looking for facts around here. We have all developed our opinions and don't need facts to back those opinions up. I can't wait to try this driver out. Really just wish Titleist would release the club before November. Golf ends here in Ky around Halloween so it will be torture to have to look at that shiny new driver all winter.

The weights are 4-10g...out of a 200g +/- head weight. Very possible to still have a CG closer to the face, even with this small weight pushed back.

likewise, but then I was very happy with the 910D3 8.5 with Diamana 73 Whiteboard

now playing a 913D3 8.5 with Diamana 72 Whiteboard ( and a backup using my old Diamana 73 shaft)

like the fact that I can keep all my surefit driver shafts :-)

can't wait to try it out, and compare with my 910 and 913 on the launch monitor in November, an
early Xmas pressie - can't wait !

I could be mistaken but if the head is lower spin and you want to keep the same ball flight... You shouldn't go Tour Spec, but rather stay with the DI with less tipping or a 7.3 TS. I haven't heard anything relating to higher launch and lower spin, so it is possible it launches the same but spins less so you would need a shaft to help increase launch angle.

It is possible extreme lie/low shafts like the Speeder Tour Spec, Kiyoshi Black, or Black Tie will become irrelevant as heads become more low spin. Shafts like the DI, 757, or Kiyoshi White will become more desired

The W Series from Mitsubishi Rayon, the new Ahina/Whiteboard was actually designed to spin a little more to combat the shift toward lower spinning heads.
