I’d say those Mac’s should bring $150 at least . They look to be in excellent shape.

I’m really intrigued by the Spalding Cannon Advance set you found. I bought a set of Spalding Executive XE irons for my wife. They are a full set of hybrids and very easy for her to hit. I never heard of the Cannon Advance before. I looked them up and it says they were released after the success of the XE’s.

What looks really cool about the Cannon’s is the head shape differences between the low to short irons. The XE’s were all the same size and shape generally. The Cannon Advance definitely looks like a refined version of the XE’s.

Very cool!

I had a 1 iron xe when they came out about 87. Grooves just shredded the ball. I took them to the range last week. Fairly easy to hit particularly the 3 and 5. Scrambler too.there is a set on eBay 5-w for I think about 150. The xe sets are pretty cool. I hit these even with the medium cflex further and any of my other clubs. Think I’ll keep them awhile. Back to the Mc Gregor, if I can sell the for what I have in mind I can GIVE away about 6 or 8 sets of irons I have just for postage. I gave the VIP set to a member in Charlotte.

Going after work to grab 2 old bags with some hickories in them, looks to be 3 or 4 woods and maybe half a dozen irons, probably just going to be for display in the golf room, might give em a whack if the shafts seem solid enough! Ill post pics later once I've got them. Stoked to get them!

Thrift stores around here don't carry many golf clubs, some don't have any at all, so when you find one it's pretty exciting. I went back to the one that usually has the most to choose from and found this little gem, it's an M33 4 wood. Doesn't look like it was used much, no issues other than an attempt to restore the head. So it's been painted and re-cleared. The toe stamp is there and looks good, but is mostly filled in from the re-paint and clear. The shaft is a little rusty and it has a decent leather grip. I will put it on the rack for future restoration and continue to look for the rest of the set. Enjoy the pics.

> Wow!!! Lucked into a set of MacGregor Tommy Armour 915's today for under $8 with a MacGregor bag. Forged stainless. Good Chamois grips, some ferrules are missing or damaged though. Still, 1952's 3-PW. Going outside to scrub 'em up now to list em on eBay. What does "V" on the shaft label mean?

Wow! Sweet find!

The 1950 Macgregor catalog has a description of the Tourney V shaft and the clubs they were featured.

I dunno. My Golfworks books only shows 915's for one year. Then they became 925's. At least that's how I read it. Does the Macgregor catalog differ?

Kaplan shows the irons you have as a 1967 model. The tell-tale sign is ‘Silver Scot Tourney’ being stamped on the toe whereas the late 40s-early 50s version had Tourney on the toe and Silver Scot stamped on the muscle pad. There was a 985 model that year too.

Ah yes. Quite so.

Scored well today, but I have my work cut out for me on clean up & de-rusting. Wilson Staff FG-17's 3-PW , Trevino Signature with the sombrero 3-PW, a Ping Eye2+ SW, a couple junk putters, a ruined MacGregor Pro Only bag, a Wilson X31 SW I needed for my set (too bad it's aluminum shaft), about 50 tees, two Rawlings Lee Trevino laminate woods, and a Wilson Staff Tour Block ii 3&5 wood. All for a $20!
