SNELL GOLF BALLS??? anyone???

I played a round with the MTB Red yesterday.

Not convinced, although my iron play wasn't sharp.

I've been playing the Chrome Soft mostly for a year now and I felt the Snell was a bit shorter off the tee and felt clickier off Irons (Miz 919 Forged) to me. Feels Ok off the putter, but still firmer than I like.

Not a fair test as I was playing new Irons and a new driver yesterday, but the wedge action didnt seem to have quite the stopping power, either.

I'll give them another go this week.

 

IMB, Red is definitely wrong ball for you. Red is for those who prefer clicky balls like V1x or XV.

 

For me, Red shined near green; I took advantage of high spin and was able to go way more aggressive going at pins. However, overall, Black is for me.

I let my new 2 dozen MTB's in a bin in the back of my pickup the last two nights at -24F. Do I need to worry about performance after they thaw out?

yikes.. that is cold.. it will take a while for them to come back to ambient temp.. i would keep indoors for a few days.. once back to ambient or room temp, they will be fine...

would recommend MTB BLACK if you play the softer, lower spinning chrome soft.. RED is firmer in feel, and higher in spin so it would make sense you would notice a big difference here...

I was getting a bit of conflicting info through this thread on which was the softer feeling ball, so took a chance with the Reds.

For reference, my favorite ball was the original Wilson FG Tour. Like the feel of some years ProV1s, but they always spun too much for me, and I lost distance with the X version. SS around 90-93 driver, 80 ish 6

I may have misquoted. He said changes would be made so that suppliers could fill orders. So perhaps the ball isn't changing. Sorry for possible fake news.

Look up the USGA list. It states the construction of the ball...

 

I’m thinking it will be an alternative to the black but higher compression and more speed. Regardless, it’ll be quality and affordable and that’s what we want from Snell

The snell red and black tour balls are pretty dang close in spin/distance/feel to pro v1/x. The launch monitor says the difference is extremely small , maybe I just think pro v1 feels better cause I've been playing Titleist for 20 years. 105mph driver swing speed just fyi
