SNELL GOLF BALLS??? anyone???

I have about 10 dozen yellow mtb reds I may have to put up for sale.

No reason to buy in bulk. There's always a better ball coming up 1-2 yrs later.

This is true, but it’s hard to pass up on the many deals we read about on WRX.

There’s always someone thats worried about what everyone else spends their money on.

My only real tiny gripe, and this is just me being a little b****, is the logo. I find what Bridgestone is doing with their ball to be very appealing with the large B logo. Titleist, Callaway, Taylormade, Srixon, Maxfli, Volvik and Wilson all have their brand names in relatively the same orient and shape on the ball. They all have their respective sight lights, fonts, and ball properties.

Bridgestone and Nike (one in the same I guess) just have that big B or the Nike sign with a number and it just looks so much cleaner and nicer.

Snell is newer but, it's reputation is clear. Is there possibility for a larger S instead of the name across the front in the future? I know this is a really hit or miss topic but, Snell is consumer feedback driven and I think it's something to look at incase their is a brand / design adjustment in the way future.

Looking forward to trying out the blue box (totally called it that the next box would be BLUE).

In terms of driver does the black or the x have higher ball speed, what about spin?

Enjoying the mtb black as its long off the driver, only complaint is it has a higher than normal flight

I would say they probably are about the same with the difference coming in full shot spin inside 150yds. They seem to be following the Titleists formula. “X” is high trajectory, lower driver spin and higher wedge spin. Non “X” is lower trajectory, slightly higher driver spin but lower full wedge spin. The misconception was always that the “X” spun less everywhere then when Titleist actually announced it and marketed it that way last year everyone lost their s*** thinking they needed to change balls when it had been that way forever they just chose a different way to market. Pretty ingenious actually. Basically created 2 “new balls” without changing anything.

Personally - I'd love to see X stricken from golf nomenclature. Maybe I am slow and stupid, but it confuses the hell out of me especially when everyone uses it and it means something slightly different for each mfg.

Just give each ball (each year or cycle) it's own identity and name - done.

I'm just the opposite, I dislike the Bridgestone giant "B". I bought a couple dozen last year to test and it was common to arrive at my ball in the fairway and think there was a huge hunk of mud on the ball.

I agree with you. I would like to see something a little more creative as far as the logo on the ball. After a round on the simulator the "Snell" logo starts to noticeably wear off the ball. The font used is kind of a thin script typeface which doesn't hold up to well.

Just curious would a round on a simulator be rougher on a ball than a normal round ?

Club impact on ball as well as close proximity screen or net vs a fairway or green impact ?

I don't really have a solid answer for that question. Off hand I would think the logo would hold up better in controlled indoor environment, but the screen I hit into doesn't feel particularly abrasive but does have some texture in the fabric which may cause the logo paint to wear quicker.

I think with that thin script it's more noticeable than other balls that I have played. I may have to do a comparison to a Titleist ball as it also has a thinner looking font as well. See what it looks like after a round on simulator & compare the 2 afterward. Will let you you know.

Of course I'm being a little nit picky with this issue. Snell golf balls are great!

$90 on the Canadian site for 12 MTB black, 12 MTB red, & a divot tool.

No thanks.

I think it's a pretty fair price. All the premium brands are $20/dozen more expensive. They've thrown in multiple divot tools or multiple ball markers or a hat with every order I've placed.

Parsing the release data it seems the MTB Black hasn't changed, other than being offered in yellow?

Is this a first in the industry, where a new release has ended up being the exact same product as before?

As a MTB Black fan, at first I was a little underwhelmed, but then ultimately impressed that a company would do that. It underlines how good a product it is.

It definitely fits with the "based on consumer feedback" mentality that they claim to have (and I believe they do). If it doesn't need any obvious improvement, keep it exactly as is but release it in yellow as well. I'm definitely a proud Snell player, and it feels awful to say but I'm desperate to burn through the rest of my MTB Red supply so that I can move to the X! Or, as posted above, I could always try and move them on the BST for a discount...The X seems to have fixed my least favorite aspect of the Red, which was the durability and appearance of the TPU cover.

Also, Dean, if you end up reading this, please make these hats with your Snell logo and sell them on your website. I would wear that proudly on the course...

How's the durability?

Extremely good. Somewhere in this thread I had a continuing update about rounds with the same ball, I think i was up around 10 full rounds with that ball before it met its watery demise. And while it was scuffed a bit, it still performed fine.

I assume nobody here has seen the MTB-X in person, but thought I'd throw this out there in case anybody can comment.

Currently game the MTB Red and, while I'm excited about the MTB-X, one thing I'm worried about is the dimple pattern. On the MTB Black (or at least last years) there is a seam in the dimple pattern (around I guess the equator of the golf ball) of the MTB Black that, while I doubt it impacts performance, just kind of bothers me once it was pointed out to me and I saw it. By contrast, the MTB Red didn't have any kind of seam/equator and so I just much preferred the look of that dimple pattern as a result.

Does the MTB-X have the same dimple pattern as the MTB Red (or at least not have a seam), or is it now the same dimple pattern as the MTB Black and the inside of the ball is just different. Not sure if the seam was a necessary evil of the construction of the cover or something different.

Thanks!

So Im die hard MTB black but Ive never hit the red.....when it is a firmer feel...are we talking prov1x to proV firmer or top flite xl2000 firmer?

V1x. I love the short game feel of the Red, it’s actually why I picked it over the Black when he expanded the line after testing (had originally been playing the My Tour Ball and at that time there was no alternative).
