It was a bad live bet but I assumed he would follow that eagle with one more birdie on 17 or 18 and rushed it to make sure I got better than 2-1. It was a bet made with emotion instead of logic.

Ok, Wyndham was a good result for the bookies last week, with Davis Love III earning the gold medal. My selection in the European even Kjelsen got a T2 finish and Patrick Rodgers was right there yet again in the states but got a bogey and went bogey,bogey, double after. I'm still sticking with him for the time being, with all guns blazing I can see him winning an event soon by 4-5 strokes. Well done to anyone who were on Davis.

I don't know the legalities of Canadian residents betting on Betfair but you can get 109-1 ($110) on there at the moment (and $14 on DJ).

I think this goes to show how sports betting is a losing proposition and you are basically pitting your skill against full time handicappers. The only way to beat is to be one step ahead like that one guy Phil Mickelson worked with :/

Picking a winner at a non major can be so random. This week was a perfectly good example or when James Hahn won etc. These guys have so much talent even at 51 or the 289th ranked player in the world. Bookies have got to love golf betters. Anyways, thanks SB it was fun to watch this thread.

I have to disagree, kind of. Yes betting on outright winners is pretty volatile, unfortunately volatile = fun. But there are lots of guys who make money online specifically betting on golf. Discipline and bankroll management is crucial for these guys along with the vast amounts of markets available these days.

Outright, Top European, Top European (Excl GB & I), Top US, Top Australian, Top ROW, Top Asian, Leader after Rnd 1,2,3 Top 5, 10, 20, Make the cut, Miss the cut, Insurebet 5 place, 10 places, Big Guns vs The Field, Group Betting, Match betting (this one is an important market for the shrewd investors), with most of these markets offering in-play betting on them.

It all depends on the person, but betting on golf isn't a losing proposition if you shop around the right markets. As long as guys aren't losing more they can afford to it's all in good fun.
