Where are you playing tomorrow - Chicago (Round2)

I played Maple Meadows for the first time last Friday. Rough round mostly due to putting. The greens were obsurdly fast and the cups were in odd places. Seems like I had double and triple breakers on almost every hole. Conditions were odd too. Tight lies but soft. Layout was unfamiliar but didn't suit my eye. I'm guessing that those are not normal conditions for that course. The guys we were paired with were regulars and were surprised by the conditions.

So Danielle from HoE just surfaced. She's been busy suffice to say...

She had a bun in the oven. Little girl...

Oh Geez...does little Danielle resemble any member of the Chicago crew??? You know, there are some pictures floating around...

You asked for this.

Interesting. I've always found Maple Meadows to be somewhat soft, it's rarely hard and fast, especially the front 9. Their greens have lots of undulations, both large slopes and sharp ridges that if they ever treated them right and cut them short they could be very tough. Lots of ridges and shelves. They've always been soft and receptive, if ever quick they could be very difficult. They're tough if on the wrong side of even when slow.

Perhaps the lack of Oak Meadows this year has put a greater emphasis on Maples conditioning.

Well whatever they did to that course it managed to ruin my putting confidence. lol

Waters Edge was playing 5-13 twice today as they have just punched the greens. The greens really were not that bad, still playable, understandably wet but it turned into a nice afternoon. The only problem was by the second time around we had 3 or 4 groups on every hole. It could have just been the timing of when I was out there but when you send [people out like you have a full 18 to play but only have 9 it gets crazy. I was 3 over the first time around with a couple birdies, but the backup hit me hard and I felt super rushed the second time around and just got out of any kind of groove I had. I didn't strike the ball poorly, I just did stupid things like not factoring in wind so I was over a lot of greens and than hitting a chip to the front and two putting for bogey and finished 13 over for the "back" 9... ugh

Played Jackson Park for the first and last time Sunday afternoon.

Lol. How bad was the goose sh*t? I have a soft spot in my heart for JP, as I used to play it often when I lived in the South Loop. It'll never be mistaken for a quality course, but its fine for a quick round. Unlike Marovitz, the pace of play is fine. I've never had a round over 4:30 there, and the rounds usually take ~4 hours.

Scramble at Shepherd's Crook tomorrow. Played in it last year as well. Great scramble, only $65 and they give you a coupon for a free round. Can't get a better deal than that. Only thing that sucks is that it starts at 8:00. Coming from the city, my 4some is meeting at my place at 6:30 tomorrow. That sucks.

Come on Zer...for a rough and tumble hockey player that's a bit soft, isn't it?

Morning temperatures in the mid 40's with 20 mph NW winds gusting to 35 mph tomorrow. 'Should be another real grind.

No sense in paying top dollar to beat my brains in. I've booked at Meadows in Blue Island. I haven't played there since '08, but if I recall is was built on an old dump. I'm not expecting much, but for $30, what the heck.

I was thinking you were the Andrew Shaw type getting into scraps but you're more of the Dino Cicerelli type? Didn't see that coming.

I think you just named 2 very similar players lol. Dino was very scrappy.

I'm more in the Patrick Kane school of hockey, except he plays more defense than me (which no one has probably ever said about Kane).

Church scramble this morning at Old Oak. Course was in decent shape, but the greens were running pretty slow. My partner's fiance told him not to drink until at least 10th hole. Guess which hole we teed off on???? If you guessed 10, you would have been correct. Right off the bet, we set the rules in stone - any bogey, par, birdie, OR eagle - we take a shot of vodka. So 18 holes... err... shots later we wound up 8 under. We assumed that since this is a church charity outing, nobody would cheat and submit a bs 18 under score, but generally something in the 12-13 under range wins. I "forgot" to turn in our scorecard at the end and imagine my surprise when 7 under won! There goes a cheap bottle of wine and a pat on the back. Oh well, at least it was for a good cause.

Chit load of Maltbys - TS2 irons, KE4 TC Driver & 4 wood, TSW 54* & 60* wedges, PTM5 Mallet putter

Grind. Cold, windy, and wet. Played Meadows in Blue Island. Pretty much what I expected. It's a good course for these conditions. Soft, wet, and muddy. Greens are still healing from their recent aeration, but still somewhat playable. Fairways were shaggy with standing water and ruts. Not sure why they are allowing carts on the course.

Given the conditions, I had an good day ball striking, with 8/13 fairways, and 11 greens. A few nice scrambles, and I'm more than happy with the results.

I don't normally drink before noon, but my body is aching. A little coffee and Baileys is hitting the spot. A hot shower is on tap.

Unable to play Rich Harvest earlier this week. Unplayable due to rain. Playing Cantigny Monday, Chicago Highlands Wednesday.

i will round off the month with KY for Old Silo and Kearney Hills.

Bring your kite on Wednesday.

I'll try and work stingers and knock down shots around the track. ;).

Either way, I never played the course and it should be fun.

I'll be out of the office, playing golf on a beautiful course, and with good company.

So I got that going for me...

YA Right.

LMFAO, coffee on the tablecloth!

This must be why DP4 took me to Schaumburg!

Loved Schaumburg, by the way, and now that I've met the infamous smoking hot Mrs. Pelz (he's living a dream) can't understand this Tiger-like behavior.

I like CH, wind or less wind. A few meh holes, but most have memorabe features or character, conditions have always been excellent and it's not a typical country club setting. The make-shift facilities and friendly staff provide a certain charm.

Shepherd's Crook was in really good shape yesterday considering the rain we had. It was pretty brutal out there at the 8 am scramble. Had a great time though. Played really well too. Rest of my team, not so much, but we finished 3 under after being even par last year. Looked to be about 8-10th place, but we didn't stick around to see the results.

Supposed to play Mt. Prospect at 3 today, but unless it warms up 10 degrees in the next few hour I'm gonna bail. Can't deal with playing in the cold again two days in a row.
