Ping i-e Irons?

I have px6.0 in mine. I came from the 5.5 in the anser that was just a touch soft. I am a normally mid to mid high ball player. My miss I lllllloooooowwwah. When I connect with the new irons it is a beautiful high shot. Maybe a little too high if there is some wind. We have a par three over water that my tees play anywhere from 145 to 196. Was playing Thursday afternoon and it was 185. It's 145 to cover the water. I got it caught up in the wind and made it past the water by 2 yards. I hit my 190 club. I haven't figured how to flight it down yet. Not without hitting the hard right to left shot.

I came from S59 (6.0) to 2nd gen ansers(5.5) as I have gotten older now. But the 5.5 was just soft enough that my normally straight to 2-3 yard cut was drawing. I don't really know my swing speed right now. But 8iron is 160, 7 iron is 170, 6 iron is 185-190ish and 5 is just at 200.

Did not really pick up any yards with the switch from the new irons but I love the feel and the flight is more consistent than my previous set.

I hope that helps.

I'm a 8 handicap.

IM actually happy to hear that. Looking to raise my ball flight..... Can't wait to get these!

Ok... So I have the Ping S56 with the KBS Tour X Stiff. Really liking the looks of these irons and I cant wait to hit some very soon. My question is I want to try to go down to a lighter shaft those KBS have me tired if I play 36 :-). Talking with Ping they suggested the ZZ65 or maybe the CFS? I just turned 50 and I am wondering if its time I dial it back a bit and go with just a stiff shaft and something lighter. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks

From an exercise standpoint, to be honest man I'd just "exercise" my swing and pound balls on the range, work up Endurance. Wouldn't change shafts if you like them, because that for me has been hard to find a set with specs in a shaft I like. What if you don't like the shaft? Just my .02

Ping would replace them out for me. They did that at least when I went from KBS Stiff to X Stiff. I am going to a fitter so I hope to at least hit a few different shafts.

I went from the kbs tour xstiff to the tourV stiff when i got the iE1s (92mph swing speed w 7iron fwiw). has worked out well. i do have to swing smooth. or at least i cant go after it as hard as i could with the tours when i wanted to get a few more yards out of a club. but thats mostly been a good thing. easy transition to go from tours to tourV in my experience if you're looking to drop down in weight.

I had my cfs set reshafted with zz65. Slightly stiffer but much better ballflight for me. I used to play kbs tour as well and like these better. But I have played zz65 for a long time....turning 51 in a few months.

ZZ65 fits right between the CFS s and x. It is pretty much the same weight but helps me control my flight and direction better than the stock CFS stiff. It is a bulletproof shaft Ping has used for a long time.
i play the zz65 in my i25s. The Ping UK fitter told me they have stiff tips. Tested so much better than the CFS stiff for me and I am a 95mph driver swinger. Great shaft for accuracy.

Agreed. Tightens everything up a little. Billy Horschel used them before going to PXG. There are other tour players using this shaft as well. Solid.

I have been playing ZZ65 for ten years in my I5's and went to a Ping demo today to hit the IE's and the G's. Thought that I would get either with the ZZ65's, but the fitter thought the ball was spinning a little to much and had me try the new AWT shaft. The AWT just fit me better and had a better flight.

Going G 5&6 AWT stiff cushin and IE 7-UW AWT stiff cushin.

I've tried kicking the damn things out 3 different times from the end of last year to this winter and spring. I'm just going to give up, because they are just too easy to hit and feel good.

Why do you want to get rid of them after such a short time? There must be something about them that you aren't satisfied with, right? I would think you're still in the honeymoon phase.

I just like the look of blades better, but I'm a middle aged has-been barely coming to grips that I work far more than I play golf. That's all. :)

I am with you Denver! Shoot low and want the blades back.....then I realize it is all downhill after 50 so I just suck it up and stick with the I's.

I just got a set but haven't had a chance to hit them yet. One thing I noticed on Pings site is that the I e1's seem to have more bounce (particularly in the longer irons) than most iron sets.I just got a set but haven't had a chance to hit them yet. You know, its weird. I have always played "blue dot irons"

We had a ping fitting... I was fit for silver... SILVER.. but then I hit them, and I couldn't make solid contact with them. I smoke my Blue Dots...

Luckily the rep lives about an hour from me... I will bend them a couple of degrees. then on my next set, I will get 2 degrees less than silver, and then get them bent to silver... so fix it over 2 years or so, that way my swing will gradually adjust.

Is that silver at standard length, or at something over length? Ping adjusts the actual lie angle in their color codes for length changes.
