As someone that often finds it difficult to deal with pressure on the course at my lowly level, I feel terrible watching Johnson there. Some people have it in the head and some people don't. Some people get a bit of luck to help them on the way. DJ looks like he's another Westwood or Garcia unfortunately.

Yeah, that's how I feel... Lee Westwood with 30 extra yards.

Phil got over plenty of missed chances in majors before rattling 5 off. It's a stretch to say DJ will never win one.
He won't if his short game and putting don't get better. Simple as that.

Phil is a below average to average putter, but has a world class wedge game and simply knows how to get close to the hole a lot. DJ does not.

Three putt from 12 feet.

Dustin Johnson's career in a nutshell.
At first I thought you were prophetic, then I saw the time stamp was after the 3-jack.

Maybe next time you'll put yourself out there and at least post it after the front 9 on Sunday...

Very surprising after watching Day putt first and seeing what his ball did. No confidence lining up the comback putt, just walked up and hit it. Not close.............

Can't believe after seeing Day's putt goes that much past the hole that he would make the same mistake.
Dustin's actual stroke was much longer than his practice stroke before that first putt.
He does that consistently.

Every putt he just does a few little waggles as opposed to some others who try to feel the distance they want to hit it so their waggles vary in length to get a feel for the distance.

He hits the first putt too hard and the 2nd putt, which really didn't matter (much) if he missed, too softly.

I HATE the word "choke" but this is the perfect circumstance to use it,,,,,,,,, :(

How's that expression go again ? "You drive for show and putt for dough" ?!?!?! ;)

DJ has not learned how to win. He will figure it out. Easy to say he choked sitting from your couch. Spieth did the same thing on 17, He choked too. He just had 1 extra for cushion.
Spieth's first putt on 17 was harder to lag than DJ's on 18. The part of the green he was on was totally tricked up.

I wasn't rooting for Johnson but neither was i cheering for him to three putt there. When he seemed indecisive on Day putting out, then took so long to go through the preshot routine and putt, i had a bad feeling. At least I wasn't expecting a 3. Just slid it a wee bit out of gimme range and hurried the birdie putt. That was tough to watch, but it wasn't exactly shocking. Johnson doesn't strike me as either mentally tough or particularly a thinking man's golfer. Unfortunately for him, it took about 2 minutes for these traits to get him at the very worst possible time. Will be interesting to see how he responds. As long off the tee as he is, gotta figure he'll have more chances, but I'd lean toward the no major choice with him. FWIW, it's also worth asking if Johnson is hurt by not having an established caddy on the bag. Read enough about his brother, who I think was caddying for him this week, to wonder if he brings anything at all other than lugging the bag. Spieth wins by a stroke with a caddy who is by all accounts much more than just a bag man.

Fun fact. For the week DJ had better putting stats than Spieth and actually had better stats than him in the final round. http://www.usopen.co...tats/putts.html
He does not manage situations well, even ones where the stats say he should be the winner.

That's the ugly thing about major championship pressure, there really is no escaping your flaws. You can't really have a clear weakness.
