I hope not, but think so!
so he will win 2 majors then?
Dustin Johnson will never be fit to tie Greg Normans boot laces. Norman was a dominat wno for what was a record run until Tiger. Greg was also a class act and a great role model for fans and other players.

Unbelievable?

When's the last time you had a 5' putt for over a million dollars and validation of your entire career ... after 6 months of drug rehab?

He'll be fine, infact I believe he'll go on to win 2-3 majors before his career is over. Sure he's had some tough results in the past and the latest one will tough to swallow, however I think DJs got a new outlook on life now that he's a father and with all he's been through.

DJ will end up with 4 majors. He's too talented not to win.
What do you mean by talented? Because he can hit the ball far? He can't putt for crap, his wedge play is average and he has the mental game of a hippo. Speith is mentally tough, one of the best putters on the planet, but doesn't hit the ball 350. So therefore he is a 'grinder' who gets the most out of his game. Why is it that people who hit the ball 10 miles have 'talent' and those that get the ball up and down, can come back from adversity, and play 'boring golf' are 'grinders'? Irritates the crap out of me...if you couldn't tell.

Yes he will. He's only 30. The fact that he gets this close without playing to his full potential...

This will fuel his practice. He will win multiple majors
I agree. His game is too good. I think he wins multiple majors. Too young and too much talent.

I think it's possible that DJ never wins a major. He's accumulating a lot of scar tissue.

He's basically Tiger in his prime without the short game. It's hard to win majors without being a great putter. He played the perfect tournament tee to green at Chambers Bay and the putter cost him the tournament. How often does a guy drive like that in a US Open?

 • 4 weeks later...

Whatever about the start of his round, when he couldn't make a birdie of any kind, he just completely threw it away on the last three holes there. -10 can definitely win this, I'm not sure -7 can. He is now the same score as Patrick Reed and Stewart Cink...

You can accept when it's not your day in the third round, it's just one of those things but just keep yourself somewhere in contention. Unfortunately somewhere on the back nine it seems like he already that blow up mode where he doesn't think clearly and even the most simple shots from 150 yards and in become a chore for him. When he really wasn't that far off the lead.

He needs a psychologist or something. It's really hard to explain other than being a complete and utter mental blockage because his short game was pretty good over the first two days. He made lots of putts and chipped well.

I like DJ but it's the same thing happening over and over again, so it's hard to watch.

This is going to be hard to overcome mentally. He has coked away several majors now two on the 18th hole.

Freudian slip or intended?
it was actually a Freudian slip that I noticed right after I posted. I was going to edit it but then I thought....no that is too perfect.

I predict he will win one major someday. Much like DLIII he will blitz the field some year in a PGA or something. But will continue to come up short most of the time. Actually his game reminds me a lot of DLII's. Tremendous power. Good iron game. Streaky putter. Streaky wedge player. But absolutely mentally challenged under major championship pressure.

Norman was the same but he was a much better putter and short game player overall than those two. For other reasons his mistakes usually came from his iron play.

He's won every year that he's been on tour besides 2014....lol.

Also, When did Phil win his first major? Pretty sure he was older than DJ.

Really??? DJs iron game along with his short game and putting are no where close to Tiger back in his prime. DJ is just a long accurate driver of the golf ball. Give him the same length as Spieth or Zach Johnson and he struggles to keep in the top 125.

I really doubt he would struggle to stay in the top 125 with Spieths distance lol he would still be top 50 easily.

Hard to imagine he doesn't win his share of majors over the next ten years or so, he's just too good. Phil was 33 for his first I believe, and everyone was saying the same things about him back then. Now Sergio o really wonder about... I just don't get it

GREAT POINT!

Phil Mickelson was 33 when he won his first major at the 2004 Masters.

He went on to win 5 majors total (and still contending).

DJ is only 31.

He has the golf ability to win a major, but after he's in contention and it slips away a few times, you have to wonder if he has the mental ability to win a major. I'm starting to think he doesnt. And I'm not saying he's dumb, I just don't think he can juggle the pressure and the shot at hand in his head at the same time.

Thanks for the, uh...advice? ;)

I'll admit there may be some psychology in it for me - I've been pulling for Sergio's first major for a LONG time, it's like battered fan syndrome at this point

I tend to think he'll stumble in to one eventually, but I think his chances would be greatly improved if he used a professional caddie, rather than his brother. At Chambers Bay, the brother encouraged him to go for the win on the 72nd hole. Told him this was his chance. Cozy it down there with the option to go in gets you 18 more chances tomorrow. DJ gets quick when the pressure gets big; he needs somebody to slow down the process and the brother doesn't do that for him.

I think he will get one at some point. He's just too good not to put it all together in some major. Wouldn't surprise me if he's not a multiple winner though. One major with tons of money........not all bad.
