I really liked my Jones bag, but I hated the idea of a "cooler pocket".  Like just make a normal pocket, no one carries that much with them while they're walking, they'll take a cart lol.

And the drawstring pocket seemed kind of odd to me as well.  I'll keep watching their stuff if they make just a normal pocket situation and then try one then.

 Dumb question

I have several Jones bags and love them- but what is the point of strap/buckle arrangement at the top ?

I put a w tees in there and a few dummy 30-06 rounds but I doubt that is the purpose

It's just one of their signature design elements.  EAL did a RGC video where he toured the Jones facility and they mention the buckles...

Nice first round with the utility stand bag today. I really liked the comfy single strap with the option to throw on a second one for longer hauls. The bag overall isn't very big, so the clubs are quite packed together, but tangle wasn't bad. Good stand system. Only wish it had a towel loop, but I guess I can attach a carabiner.

I'm not sure of the actually point other than looks but I have found it to be a great place to stick my sunglasses through when I am walking and dont need them every swing.

I got my Utility used of a great member here and it's my 6th one.  There is a reason I keep coming back to this bag, overall I think it is one of the best ever made.  No bag is perfect but this bag does it all IMO.  I tried to go back to my Hoofer for a minute but even in the NON-Lite, the tangle is frustrating.  I can't understand how the Jones at the size it is has less club tangle than the larger Hoofer.

I am on the fence about ordering a Navy Utility, just to have it in case Jones stops with these again.  The internal leg mechanism is much better for my Clicgear so the Trouper has never been on my radar even though it is a great looking bag.

@Tupperwolf I have had no issues with my second strap, on any of the Utilities other than it being weird to get on my shoulder at times, but once it's on it fits great.  Enjoy the bag though, it took me a minute to love it but after being through SO many bags, it's clear this is the best all arounder!!

I love my utility trouper but I’m noticing the stand mechanism becoming detached almost every round and I have to reach back into the bag from the tiny opening in the bottom to pull it out to click in to the foot. That and the shoulder straps just not sitting comfortably on me no matter how much I adjust them has been driving me crazy.

As such I’ve been using an Original lately, even in a cart. Hopefully the new models have addressed the above issues.

I walked half my round with the Trouper R and really enjoyed it. It was comfortable on my back and I never had any issues with it. I had quite a bit of extra stuff in there and could easily make it lighter if I wanted. I altered from using a new strap to both a few times to see the comfort of the single strap and it wasn’t bad. I definitely do enjoy this bag. It’s probably one of my favorite bags I’ve ever owned to be honest. I’ll probably end up picking up a Utility Rover or Players Series in the future for cooler weather carry. It hit 100 during my round today.

I've been using the Jones Utility Stand bag for a while now and while it isn't a perfect bag, I think it is the perfect bag for me.  I walk about 95% of my rounds.  Of that 95% probably 70% of those I use my Clickgear 6+ push cart, otherwise I carry.  This bag works well for me as a push cart bag, a carry bag, and as a cart bag.  It's not perfect for any one of those things, but it works very well for all.  I do use mid-sized grips and I get some binding of grips in the bag, but I only carry 11 or 12 clubs so it's not a big deal.

I'd agree.  While there is no "perfect" bag, I have always thought the OG Utility design does everything well.  I play 13 clubs with standard grips and don't have any issues with tangle for the most part.  I have wanted to like the Hoofer Lite but the tangle is so bad in that bag, it's just a no go.  The Utility is the same weight and holds more if I need it to as well as having a better drink pocket.  Just bought a black camo utility from Jones yesterday as I missed out on the grey and blue ones a few months back.  Great overall bag with a better stand mechanism than the Trouper IMO.

I love the look of the Jones carry bags and the Jones stand bags. I would buy one in a second if I thought 14 clubs could fit without getting tangled. Do those of you who have the stand bag carry 14 clubs or do you pack less? I like the cart bag but it looks a bit to big. I have a Superstroke grip on my mallet putter and it takes up a bit of room, standard grips on everything else. What say you, you denizens of Jones?

Absolutely no worries getting 14 clubs in the bag ... Mine is an 80's model green & white ... when I carry plenty of room for all of them.

I have recently switched from the Players Series bag, which has been my bag of choice for several years, to The Original bag. Both bags are very good but the ultimate carry bag would combine the best of both models.

Any idea what the 3.0 means?  I don’t see any differences from the regular R, other than the $350 price tag.

No clue honestly. But according to their site…

The Trouper R has the same language. So I think it’s just design and maybe a different material that “justify” the price.

Does this mean the stand mechanism won’t be external anymore, and instead hidden? Really hope so!
