Titleist 716 Iron Photos and Comparisons: AP1, AP2, T-MB, CB, MB

Ya just gotta laugh in some ways I guess. The thing is, what is more important is the issue of trust, as this isn't the only problem I've had with Titleist. I fully accept a mistake, teething problems whatever, but when you get issues with every Titleist order you make, after 30 years, you just have to say enough is enough now. No hard feelings or bitterness, because it's not as if Titleist are the only OEM making some pretty good stuff right now, it's just onwards and upwards, no-one died after all.

P.S. Does anyone know if Bridgestone have anyone in their Sales/orders Dept who can read a customer order in English?

Oct 23 must just be a date they will be in the stores. I got my AP2s last Friday and my next door neighbor got his MBs Tuesday.

I went through a fitting in Oceanside September 10 and ordered AP2 with the TT XP 115.

Just called Titleist and they are hoping to receive the shafts next week. Apparently, they have not received any of these shafts. Looking like another few weeks before they get shipped out. Disappointing they never announced the delay.

I ordered AP1s with the stock TT XP 90 shafts +0.25" on 10/02 and got them yesterday.

got my AP2s with AMTs today. Took them out on a course. Short irons went a bit shorter than my c taper lites, but way more consistent distance wise, mid irons were about the same and long irons a bit longer. Over all very happy, will play more this weekend.

I think the new AP2 looks terrible at address. Significantly fatter top line and more compact blade just give it a chunky look

I got the new ap2s while I agree the top line looks thicker, but shorter blade length looks better to my eye. And hitting it from all over the face seems to produce better results than its predecessor.
To each their own, but I have been enjoying the performance of the club, probably more due to the shaft though.

Just FYI, getting some early feedback that some custom orders are coming in with some specs that are WAY off the grid. So if you are buying any of the new 716 series, you may want to have your club fitter check the specs when they come in. BTW this is no knock on Titleist, every manufacturer has problems from time to time. Mizuno had some issues with one of their releases this year also.

Just demo'd the new 916AP2 7iron and was really impressed at the yardage and launch angle. I usually don't hit 175 yard 7 irons but after 20 balls that was around my average there were only 4 other swings where I was a little over the top and they all went over 180 one finished at 189. Thats just insane I'm going to go back and do a straight up comparison with my gamer just to see if the machine is juiced. Otherwise the ball felt great coming off the face. Very solid and softer feeling then the original AP2 I tried and didn't care for at all.

I had a similar experience. My AP2 712 - 7 iron is 168 / 170 ish. The 716 AP2 was consistently 180+ / Longest was 192 (total distance). This was measured at PGA SuperStore launch monitor. Who knows how accurate.
