Titleist 716 Iron Photos and Comparisons: AP1, AP2, T-MB, CB, MB

I had a similar experience. My AP2 712 - 7 iron is 168 / 170 ish. The 716 AP2 was consistently 180+ / Longest was 192 (total distance). This was measured at PGA SuperStore launch monitor. Who knows how accurate.

I wouldnt like that, doesnt sound right. I know my 714 cb 7i carries a certain distance, if the 716 cb distances are a lot more i wouldnt be buying, a couple of yards is fine but ur talking a whole club in the difference there.

That's not what he's saying. It would create a gap somewhere. You'd have to have another club somewhere to fill that gap. I'm in the same boat. At some point, there's going to be a big gap from set pitching wedge to say a 50 to 52* gap wedge since those clubs won't be going any further.

I've decided to get some 716 CB's as my next set, but I'm struggling with the top end of the set. I may go with the T-MB in the 4 or even the 5 if the T-MB are more forgiving than the CB's. I am getting an 816 M1 for the 3 Hybrid. Also thinking of the Vokey PW instead of the CB PW too. I just love my Vokeys!

Just picked up my set of TMBs 4-p Modus 130 with Ndmc Blk and I'm VERY disappointed in MOTO's qc.
I seriously can't believe they would give my set the ok to ship.
All grips are installed crooked(30-40* open), ferrules are a mess(not turned even semi flush to hosel)
and once the grips were pulled by the shop for reinstall, the tape job was terrible, and the butt ends of the shafts were cut uneven with burrs not even ground down. After taking care of the issues I immediately had my builder check the lofts and lies but they were all good.
The lack of attention to detail for a premium $$$ set of irons just blows my mind and really puts a bad taste in my mouth.
Sorry for the rant, but I just had to vent.

^^^^^^ Its really disappointing, to say the least, for a club that retails @ $200 per...
Spec wise they were all good. Lofts and lie spot on. Shaft logo's all consistent facing down.

As the sticker on each club says...

Head made in China
Shaft made in Japan
Assembled in USA

Has anyone gotten a combo set of CB/MB? I'm interested to hear how you like them and how they compare to the 714 CB/MB in terms of turf interaction, feel, etc. The 716s are hands down the best looking blades on the market right now.

Yes, they usually are. The sets on the shop floor were just fine. I would also think that their MOTO department would have better QC than the stock sets.

Custom ordered a combo set 9/18...still have yet to even hear of a shipping date...such a bad miss by Titleist...now it sounds like they are rushing to catch up, even worse...sorry to hear of the poor moto set...hope they make it right

I had the chance to hit the AP1 and AP2 yesterday. I really wanted to feel the AMT shafts in the AP2, and I really like them. I can feel the difference in weight from the AMT to the stock DG, but it's subtle. The AP2 looks a bit smaller this year, shorter heel to toe and just more compact. It was especially evident when I went to the 4-iron. They seem more forgiving compared to last year's model though. I hit the AP1 more for fun and was a rocket launcher. I think I'm going to go with the CB and a Vokey PW.

Just ordered my set of t-mbs. Excited to hear thoughts on those that have played them. My srixon 545s are awesome but just too low spinning from 7 iron down to hold tournament greens and in testing I found the tmbs to launch higher and spin more.

Same heads from the same factory. US MOTO heads have serial #'s on them where the JDM does not.
