Now our range does not have benches. They have always let members take carts to the range when they have them. On our new lease they got a additional 12 carts to accomodate that among other things and not have back ups due to people waiting on carts. For me it is nice because I can sit and rest when I get tired and relax and enjoy a water and a cigar. Our 9th hole the path to #10 runs right beside the range. I was sitting there resting by myself and some old snowbird farts rode by slowly looking like they had never seen anything before. I let out cigar smoke and the wind took it towards them. The old man stopped and his wife remarked "that is nasty and you ought not to do that". She further stated smoking offended her. I told her first off if it offended her they should not have rode by slowly staring and then stopping. I further more told her that I was a full time member and if it offended her to go back where she came from or go somewhere else to play. Of course they said something in the clubhouse and my head pro knew who it was. He told her "you sure it was a cigar???" He told me it took a minute to register. Then they complained about me having a cart on the range. Seems that is a members only thing except if a non member is handicapped. LOL they came back off the back side and I was told the woman had a whole list of what needed to be done to the course. Our Pro told them what do you expect for $39 walk in rate Augusta National?? He told them since they were dissatisified with our course maybe they could play somewhere else. Now not to be a hat when I smoke I try to be considerate of others. What happened was they were riding slowly for what ever reason and a gust of wind caught my exhale. Normally I would have apologized but that old biddy jumped dead on me. I do not think they were prepared for me to jump right back at them.

LOL up on the putting green it is now transition season for us. They had verdi cut our greens last week and had planted rye cover. We have been getting a lot of play so the greens are already stressed. Right now they are grainy and we need rain too to make them sprout. I had noticed last week that the greens were bouncy. Scotty does not do well on those greens like that. I put my phone down at eye level on the back corner of the putting green and filmed the ball roll and bounce. Confirmed what I knew. I needed to get the ball on top more. As I do most times in this season I got the trusty Bulls Eye out. It gets the ball rolling on top of the mess. Soon as I got my speed and feel down I started canning putts. People were on the porch. One guy asked if that was a Bullseye? I told him yes. he said he putted with one over 40 years ago. Now remember I was rolling it good and canning putts. This guy remarked "if you would get a new Odyssey putter man you could putt" I looked at him and said I have a Scotty Cameron in the car and it does not work as well this time of the year on these greens. He looked totally confused. I think I got him wondering when I had my phone at ground level propped up on a sleeve of balls filming the ball roll. Yep some people make me wonder

If someone tells me I'm offensive then I tell them it would be better for them not to hang around me then.

to name just a couple. 

 

On the other, I think you mentioned before that you are in your 30s? I remember those years well.

For some they are years of reckoning. Am I having the success I envisioned? Do I need to make

a career change? Am I happy? And the list goes on. Friends and former friends may be doing very

well in their careers and/or raising families and more. A self imposed pressure is felt.

 

I can't offer much except to share a little about myself. I found myself in a similar situation in my

mid 40s. I was fresh off a divorce, my work life was falling short of expectations and I was not

a happy camper. 

 

I made a rash decision to make big changes. I walked away from everything and told my ex wife

to keep it all and I decided to become a truck driver and hit the road. Family members were like

what????? LOL.

 

A year later I was picking up a load at an old run down pillow warehouse in L.A. to take back

east and I saw this fine looking woman about my age backing her truck into the dock. It was

a tough dock to back into so I went over to assist and guide, which is a common courtesy in

the business.

 

We ended up stuck at that place for hours and we talked and talked the whole time. It turned

out she had done what I did. Gone through a divorce and walked away and had started all over

again from scratch.  

 

6 months later we were married. We started driving together as a team and essentially lived

in the truck and stayed in motels when we came back to SoCal for "home time". Here we

were in our mid 40s starting all over from scratch. We knew we needed to make hay, which

we did. We worked our butts off racing all around the country and rarely coming home.

 

Next month we are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. We sold our house in SoCal

in 2004 and moved to Alabama and now we are retired and happy as 2 peas in a pod. 

 

I'm not going to follow up with a bunch of platitudes, etc. I will say this. Cobi, my wife, gave

me something not long after we met that I carried around with me in my truck during our

courtship. It was just a little sticker that said "Miracles happen to those that believe in them".

Ya, standing next to someone who is 5'1" makes me look tall at 5'10". I would look

like a midget standing next to Husky Dawg, who is basketball tall. Also, my hair is

much lower now; what's left of it. Went from fluffy to flat, really flat.

The time to fail and take chances is when you’re young. Most people have been through bad and good times, and times of self-doubt, so you’re not an outlier.

 

If your goal is still to get yourself into IT, you can do that all online now. What a great thing. I know Japan can be difficult because you may not have a big circle of people to influence you, to learn from or find a mentor.

 

If you put 6 months of hard work into that, you will change your life. And the more financially successful you become, the better looking you become to women. 😉

 

I know that sounds like something that would get me cancelled, but that doesn’t make it untrue.

 

When you get back to the US and get that more lucrative job, you’ll have a better chance of finding someone above your pay grade. Tomorrow is the best time to change your life.

I was looking for the GA v TN game today and noticed the committee had TN at #1 and GA

at #3. Wow, props to the Vols. A must watch game for me today on CBS in a few minutes.

 

My #6 Tide at  at #10 LSU at 6PM central is my other must watch for today. 

 

Bring on the wings and hot peppers!.......and later, of course. on ESPN......I think.

A beginner bought probably $1,500+ worth of woods, wedges and a Scotty Cameron putter and wants to know if he should buy “players” irons or game improvement irons. You should read some of the replies about MOI, blah, blah, study the vertical CoG, blah, blah, blah.

I just got it out of storage. It's almost this product's one time of the year to shine. Carving the bird is fairly easy with the 1960's Sunbeam electric knife. This gizmo is almost as old as me. A treasured keepsake of mine from my mother's kitchen back in my kiddo days in Detroit.

Mr. Conrad I have good news for you. My sticks have held up real well. My Honma's as of the first of November are now one year old.  They have seen 67 rounds played and dozens of trips to the range. Besides being attractive forged performers, they are also durable. Japanese made golf equipment rocks. Highest quality.   ⚡

I didn’t mean it as simplistic as it may have sounded.

 

Success can mean more than financial success. It can mean enjoying their work enough to have some enthusiasm for it, regardless of what they do. They want to be competent, they want it to have some meaning.

 

That enthusiasm carries over after work.

 

People who hate their work or work environment, and who want something more, are just as miserable when the work day is finished.

 

Enjoying your work and having some of that enthusiasm carry over can certainly increase the universe of like-minded people who are looking for a similar lifestyle and common goals and interests.

 

If you’re looking to just pick up girls, fine. But if you’re wanting something more and you have aspirations and goals, it’s different.

 

If you think that women are looking for some miserable guy with no aspirations, the pickings will be slim.
