I shall now contribute something different.

This live webcam rotates from the village to the lifts.

Just wonderful winter sights.

Looks like a charming resort.

OK, well this is post is taking a wide tangent, just for something completely different.

There is a group in Japan called Wagakki Band. Wagakki means traditional instrument, so it's the "traditional instrument band."

They've been around for a while. These young people have melded Japanese traditional instruments/masks from old theater/traditional enka style singing and clothing with hard rock. They're all accomplished musicians independently, but their music together is incredibly tight.

Anyway, it's worth a listen once to appreciate the musicianship, even if it's the first and last time to listen. 🙂

And now for something different . . .

Oh this and Homna irons too---- Reminds me of the 80s song "Going Japanese" forgot who did it though

Now it is raining cold and damp here---- That pic made me throw another log on the fire in the wood stove---- First time In 2 years I have been physically able to mess with it. But I love it the radiant dry heat makes my back and body feel good.

I just went from Japanese MAWBS to what I'm guessing are Japanese PXGs. My brother just paid big bucks for some new PXGs. They are very nice but for 1/4 the price I will give these a try.

Thanks, I looked her up, Yuko Suzuhana.  Her Wiki is a little sparse but I saw enough to see

some of her musical history.

I have been a fan of several Japanese pianists. Years ago I stumbled onto Keiko Matsui when I

was gold mining for interesting jazz artists. She is certainly different and very talented.

In recent years watching the International Chopin competitions on Youtube I became a fan of

3 classical pianists from Japan, who are outstanding. They are, in no particular order; Aimi

Kobayashi, Kyohei Sorita and Hayato Sumino. Aimi and Kyohei won awards in the most recent

competition in 2021.

Hayato is an interesting character. His main deal is being a Youtube star in Japan, playing

all sorts of keyboard music. From what I could find, looks like he has done very well for

himself with that.

He actually dared to enter the Chopin competition in 2021. A bold move. Although he did

not make the finals, his competition videos received many millions more views than any

other competitors, due to his large fan base and following in Japan.

In the first round, the first piece he played was Chopin's Nocturne Op 48 No 1.  It is a very

heavy piece that builds slowly to amazing heights toward the end.  It's technically difficult

to play but not aa difficult as many others of Chopin's works. The real difficulties lie in the

various nuances of the piece that require a level of sound control that is beyond most to

pull off.

He played that piece to perfection. I have not heard it played better and his mannerisms

while playing it were spot on. He had this sort of deadly serious look about him that also

gave the impression, to me anyway, of the deep emotion within that this piece evokes.

He made some mistakes in other more technically difficult pieces later on that cost him

a spot in the finals. After all, he was under intense pressure, as all are in these competitions

and came up a little short. For a guy though that makes his living on Youtube I was

amazed he got as far as he did. His soulfulness was world class though.

Aimi and Kyohei had the goods all the way to the end. They were both otherworldly good

IMO and deserved the prizes they won. I was rooting though for Hayato and was sad when

he got cut.

Conrad... I am impressed with your appreciation of classical music (and Honma irons).  Every time I make a birdie I hear Beethoven's 7th Symphony, Final Movement, playing in my head.

Thanks DMM!

7th? or 9th!

The 7th is not well known but the 9th Finale is epic and very famous!

Nothing wrong with the 7th mind you but if you are listening to that one you are most

certainly a Beethoven devotee.😀

I'm a bit melodramatic, so I would insist that the chorale be singing while I was about to stroke my putt...

And if others in my foursome could hear it, all the better.  What an intimidation factor!

Just saw Christine McVie has died. One by one. We're getting older.

Did you know that before she was Christine McVie that she was Christine Perfect? Must

have been a hard name to live up to. I remember seeing the Christine Perfect album way

back in the day before she married John McVie.

In fact, the chorale ought to sing 5 seconds before and 10 seconds after you guys stroke your Honmas...
