So not very long all, where are all the people playing that hit it over 275? I have played this course a lot with a lot of different people and that drive today was the longest I have ever seen on that hole and it was basically just a decent shot. I won't dwell on the fact I then duffed the 90+/- yard shot to the green leaving it 15 yards short...

 

We had that come up a couple of weeks ago. I was flat smoking the driver. Now in all honesty here at sea level I average about 215 220 or so. I flat smoked one on #13. Some of the guys were griping. I told them it might be 240 if that. Went back out and shot it. Turned out it was 245. These guys do not know squat about golf. I know the course good enough I know all the "speed slots". On that hole it was a combination of speed slot plus the fairways dried out and as hard as Interstate I-95. Have not hit one as far on that hole since. I had a PW into that green which I promptly air mailed (not skulled) over the green. I was standing over that shot thinking that may happen. I was also thinking I would give my left nut to have the blade Mac PW in my hand. That was my line in the sand that day. The blades went back in the bag that night. My good friend who himself is a good player and is a fitter at PGASS told the guys in general that I was one of the few guys who knows how far I do not hit the ball in general. The other day on our 12th hole which is a sharp dog leg Par 4 with 2 carries over the same creek I hit a low cut screamer 5 iron from 160. The wind was dead in our face. I hit it to 5 feet. One of the guys asked what I hit? I told him 5 iron. He was shocked. He said "you only hit a 5 iron 160?" I did not bother to explain because he is one who does not have enough golf sense to understand.

I am the same way as in who cares what color it is? Besides Lowes and Home Depot sell spray paint even high quality appliance paint if one is so inclined. This is coming from a guy who has been known to paint dirt track cars with a roller or Dollar General $1 a can spray paint.

They have a Nathan's up in Dirty Myrtle. If you eat hot dogs at my house it will be Nathan's or Hebrew National. Now out in the world I will eat any kind of hot dog.

My old boss at the Scrapyard owns some other businesses also. One of them is a roll off container service. He has been running ads everywhere even on FB. His original yard south of me has been running ads some time for a crane operator and paying good money. No takers. The roll off company has new Macks with all the bells and whistles. He is offering a 40 hr local work week starting at $21.50 per hour. No takers. He actually called me yesterday wondering about my status. I told him it is permanent disability as far as driving a truck. He told me he hated that not only for my sake but as far as he wanting me to drive. He told me hell he would give me $25 per hr to drive. Makes me wonder with what he is offering what the big outfits like WM are paying roll off drivers these days? He is not cheap and a great guy to work for. This would be a gravy job for a driver making 1K a week and sleeping in their own bed every night. Had I not been disabled I would have came out of retirement for this one even like 20 hrs a week in the summer

Had to turn into the guy that worked in the outfit to one of my most beloved friends.

Youre giving them the choice out of interest in keeping the friendship. And a very generous option. You’re primarily interested in their honesty and “word” and respect whichever choice they make. 

 

Money and friendship is the worst. I had a friend who was into me for some 💰

 

So I had to go to his place and take possession of his TV and a bunch of other propert 🤣 he wasn’t happy about it but I told him at least he could hold his head up he was paying me back. To his credit, over time, he paid me back completely but breaking his word originally completely soured the friendship.

Same thing happened to me in the towing business with my partner who was a friend. Problem was there was no money to get because he put it up his nose. I had no idea until it was too late. He also pulled some crap. Took out personal loans on some of the equipment with out my knowledge and signature. In fact when that came up a loan manager with a bank was fired because of wrong procedure. I was off the hook since it was personal loans off his signature and putting liens on the equipment. I did not know jack about the loans until a year after I walked out on the business. He owes me at least 45 K which I will never see. Yep he has a boatload of personal judgements against him. I do not know how he has stayed out of jail since he cooked the books on Social Security and FICA payments. I did not know on the SS part until I filed for mine. Of course I had filed taxes on myself and had my W2 forms etc where he and the book keeper had withheld regular taxes from my regular check. After a bunch of stuff SS did give me credit and supposedly went after him. Do not know if he is in jail or not because he fled the area.

Not to get all Dave Ramsey here but to Stu's point, I'm resigned to the fact that everyone will get scammed at some point in life. The extent could be highly variable. You just have to do the best you can to avoid bad situations and to cushion yourself for the fall when it eventually happens.

I am sure everyone has heard this, but I was about 16 and I asked dad if I could borrow some money.  I only offered to "borrow" the money if I knew it wasn't something they would feel was important to my existence as a 16 year old.  He said "No."  I asked why, and he said, "Never lend money if you can't afford to lose it.  I have to assume I won't get paid back."

 

I have never forgotten it.  I think we all hope this isn't the case, but we have to be prepared for that eventuality.
