Answering the question when was the last time you used a staff bag?

 

Mine is on the left obviously. 

I had some custom embroidery done. My initials, a Scorpion, and a hole # 8 golf flag. 

 

Let's see, there are Callaway X series irons with Mizzy wedges. A Rossa blade putter and all Taylor Made woods under the headcovers. I played a 7 wood back then. This was 2008 when I was living in Rancho Mirage, CA. Yes I paraded that good looking bag (Taylor Made Season Opener Commemorative staff bag) all over the PGA West tracks and a dozen other fine courses that I played regularly when I was a resident of the Californian desert. I was a member of a men's group that played twice a week. In the summer heat there were only 6-8 of us playing, but in season that number grew to 30. We played all over.

Divorced, never had children. The golf was fabulous and plentiful.  ⚡

I haven't used a staff bag since I was in college.  And I carried it!  Weighing 115 pounds.  Me, not the bag.  Though close. Then, promptly a month into my first season I switched to a lightweight team carry bag, and never looked back.

LP and The Bandito in Rancho Mirage. That fantastic dog was the kid I never had. We went all over the western U.S. together.

I rescued him at 3 months old from the Las Vegas Humane Society. I had to put him down at age 14. Bandit and I went to the dog park in Vegas 6 days a week starting when he was a puppy. He loved to romp with other dogs. His herding trait was obvious early. We escaped the desert heat together numerous times. We went either to the beaches of Southern Cal, or we would head north into Utah and even up all the way to Bozeman, Montana. He played an excellent game of fetch. Even though I was busy busting my tail nights on The Strip I always made sure Bandit got the exercise he needed. He loved the water. I had him jumping off a low diving board and into my arms in my backyard pool when I lived in Scottsdale. He was 68 lbs. I adopted the best mutt ever.

You will like it--- I went to a what I call a modified claw grip sorta a cross between a claw grip and the Pencil grip. I also went to a SBST stroke after being an arc stroke putter all my life. I found as I got older ( pre accident) that my hands and eyes did not coordinate like they used to and I was fanning the face of the putter open. It will mess with your mind and you get yippy trying to correct things. It was hard at first to adapt to but now it is natural for me

 I had a condo at The Rancho Las Palmas resort and gated residential community.  It was a little dated, but the place still packed them in. They featured a small water park and lazy river. I appreciated that the dinning scene at the resort was solid. I was in the heart of the action with El Paseo Drive and The River development within walking distance of me. I was living on 27 holes and there was a golf cart in my garage. Neighbors and I would have a few beers and play until dark many times. There were 5 community pools sprinkled throughout the neighborhood. There were no cameras around the pools, only a guard gate patrol car would stop and occasionally take a peek. I got to know security's schedule. Even though my Bandit was pretty crippled with arthritis at that time and was on strong daily meds  I would some nights sneak us in one of the heated pools and hold Bandit as he paddled around in my arms. I saw such joy expressed in his old eyes when would have our swims together during his final two years. Man I loved that dog and I am very grateful for the years the two of us spent together.

 

 A couple times in the winter the Santa Rosa's would get a white coating. Having outdoor neighborhood cocktail parties with this view was grand, and playing in shorts when the white stuff was in the background was pretty special. 

 

It's dropping down to 27* tonight here in the mountains. I want to go back.

Now you are making me homesick. I worked one summer at a youth camp up near Idyllwild on San Jacinto. Growing up in SoCal you could surf or play golf and snow ski on the same weekend if you wanted. My parents took us kids out to Desert Hot Springs long before it was commercially developed. Loved to climb on the rocks at Joshua Tree. Here is a copy of an old slide from the early 60's of the view from our front yard in the hills on the South side of the San Bernardino Valley. It was a beautiful place when the smog was gone in the winter.

Well, the Honma's are parked in the garage for the winter. They won't get used now until I get bored enough to put up the net and start to try to fix some issues with my swing. If I could hit my irons as consistent as my driver and hybrids I could play some pretty damn good golf.

Beautiful sunny winter day in the hills of Southern Ohio. A balmy 36 outside and the blue jays are wearing mufflers at the bird feeder ! Saw the lower yard had about ten deer laying down ...It is gun season week here and they know no one bothers them .

They dont even move as our vehicle goes up and down the drive. Some other truck comes up the road, they will stand and  watch it close ! Pretty darn smart.

Thanks for the words of encouragement Stu. I went down the rabbit hole of hoing putters

several years back. I realized I can putt badly with any putter......so I made the decision to

stick with one putter.

 

I have tried various things to improve my putting stroke; ball positions, shoulder rocking, 

putt looking at the hole, etc., etc. Up until this I did not try a change in how I actually hold

the putter. I guess I was resisting doing it for some reason; probably due to being in denial

that I had developed the yips.

I went through everything you mentioned. Now you know I am not afraid to experiment. I tried the claw and modified it from there. One thing I will tell you is to make sure the left wrist does not break down at impact and through the stroke. With using a claw or pencil grip the right hand does not have as much of a surface contct so less surface tension to cause problems.

Southeast Tennessee or maybe Northeast Alabama. We have the resources but we have a nice 5000 sq ft home in the country we bought 8 years ago. I just have to make up my mind to retire but I still love my sales job so it's tough. I'm getting closer .

Blame @BIG STU - wanted to drop a (very badly compressed) vid from my band's gig this past weekend; celebrating my beloved Double Down Saloon's 30th birthday. I'm the drummer, BTW. 

 

 

If any of yall are ever in Vegas around the first week of any month, come check us out on that first Wednesday (A continuation of Punk Rock Bingo night for any of the OGs).

 

We're a fun band. And there're free hot dogs.

 

(I also get clowned a lot for golf! So I always rock one of my Titleist hats 😂)
