A friend of mine actually bought one like that in Newport Beach, CA back in the 80s.

He didn't have the money for a tear down and rebuild so just added on to the existing

house over a period of years.

 

He and his wife ended up getting divorced and the house was sold. It went for 10 times

what they paid for it and the new buyer was still gonna tear it all down and build a new

house on the lot.

knew a guy long ago near the wisconsin-minnesota border who had a crappy, rock-filled family farm. couldn’t grow a thing.

 

became a multi, multi-millionaire selling rock to the two states for road construction.

 

he built on top and around of the old family farm house. it was a cool place with indoor swimming pool, bowling lanes, bars in every corner and an old house in the center.

 

yes, the outer house was built with rock. 🙂

There appears to be no clear answer why I passed out, a lovely night in the hospital which will be the equivalent of a $10,000 hotel room. Oh well at least I am alive to complain about it, should be released by noon or so since nothing happens fast. 

Somehow I doubt I will golf tomorrow, maybe not the most sensible thing to do in the 97* heat.

That’s good. Did you stand up right before ya passed out?

 

I remember hearing a common cause is standing up which causes quick low blood flow to your head, especially if you’re dehydrated as well.

That's a tiny lot. My house isn't a mansion but it's 5000 Sq ft. I'd sell my house and everything in for only a million!🤣

Gutsy 2nd round by Nelly after shooting 80 with a 10 on one hole on Thursday. Almost makes the cut with a 70, one of lower Friday rounds. Would have loved to see her make the comeback of all time.

PS.  My youngest son lived in the Tenderloin his first year in SF. After getting mugged he moved, and when his GF/now fiancée appeared on the scene they settled in the Marina.

No I was standing up at the time and felt it coming so tried to sit down and apparently never made it all the way to the chair.

remember the tesla guy who was laid off and supposedly living in his car? here’s an update.

 

guess he sold the house. wife isn’t doing the car camping thing. amazing, huh? she’s living with his parents, which is where they moved the furniture.

 

still working at gnc. got conned by a bait and switch at the gym he joined to shower and clean up, so found another gym. hangs in the gym at night. only one shower so he has to be early or he’ll miss work.

 

not quite as happy and upbeat now. reflecting on how working at tesla sucked. overwhelmed and stressed. was like being in the military, as told by others, even though he was never in the military.

 

would never work there again. they treat people like crap. was his first job, so his wide eyed original enthusiasm has waned.

 

gotta love the young people. he worked there for half a decade! like that was a remarkable feat of sticktoitiveness. haha.

 

likes the gnc job, but learning it’s a world full of no’s out there in the real world trying to meet sales goals. he replaced someone, there’s a reason for that (my comment).

 

only had one test night in the car, but thinking his future is more in youtube now. the car thing is like his hook. i don’t think he’s long for the car camping thing. he may have camped in his driveway, but it’s his brand, i guess.

 

i think it’s going to be a lot different trying to find places to park overnight in the scary real world.

had a ridiculous youtube thing show up claiming any 70-year old can hit 300 yard drives. guaranteed!  i couldn’t bear to watch, but 10’s of thousands did.

 

another one claimed putting 3 dots on your golf ball “here” will add 50 yards to your drives. instantly.

 

i think youtube should change its name to chutzpahtube.

LPGA golf is so good. Love watching the ladies. No discussion of dueling tours and money disputes. Great play. Wonderful golf course for this Open championship. Wish I could have gotten schedule under control to spend a couple days there, looks like the galleries aren’t crowded and would be a great time. 
 

Contrast the above praise with the coverage commentary. Is it me? I am confused and overwhelmed by the onslaught of nervous chatter. In the last 30 min we’ve heard these gems of deep insight….I mean you just can’t get this anywhere else:

 

”This is an important putt. Even though it’s for bogey, it’s still an important putt because all putts are really important putts in the US Open.”  
 

“Look at this chip. She is really going to have to play this chip.”

 

“She said she has a masters degree, so two degrees and does not use either of them. I majored in, get this, European History and now I am sitting here talking golf.”
