Do you guys feel like the gg swing is high maintenance? It seems like his students are always working on the pivot and perhaps you have to in order to swing this way. I was a member for about 10 months. My ballstriking was better than ever and then all of a sudden I just lost it. It's been about four weeks now and swinging a golf club feel so foreign and uncomfortable. Even my grip feels terrible. At the moment I'm taking a break from playing and just hitting freezers with my gap wedge. I'm finally finding the center of the face again. I suspect I had started pulling on the handle from the top. I guess hitting freezers to prevent the handle pull is something that students will have to constantly monitor during the span of their golfing lives. Thoughts?

You make some good points. Most people will fall back into bad habits no matter what swing they have or think they have. There are teachers that sell a “maintenance free swing” on the internet, but that’s a fallacy. IMO It’s really about knowing your faults and staying the course. If there was a low maintenance way to swing, we wouldn’t see teachers lined up and down the range at every tour event.

pretty sure poor ball striking isn't A. Scott's issue. Hopefully they don't do anything too crazy.

Saw another video of Gankas working with Paddy at Riv this week too.

Watching genesis open and they keep commenting on how Scotts swing is changed this tournament, saying his strength use to be using his arms on downswing and now hes trying to use his body. Hes working on posture and really opening body on downswing but messing him up and blocking shots off the tee. At least the commentators picked up on the changes

From what I've seen and played around with you need to be able to rotate especially with left knee , you need no pull from the top this is great but takes a bit getting use to ,you need soft grip pressure. I messed with it this summer hoping to take the pressure off the right hip, I hit it good for a bit but I struggled to keep it up. Alot of his drills are over exaggerations ,his backswing is unique but players look great on the downswing. Funny the best ball striker from here that does not play much should have been a poster child for gg. He has always had a huge loop, He can easily hit it 3 + in both directions , works the ball ,great player but a head case and he has never heard of gg. He played the can tour for a bit but had no discipline. Gankas may not be for everyone but the man Knows golf. I have always believed take what you can do from instructors and don't take what you can't.

I've been following GG for a hot minute. Maybe a month or two on Youtube and the "gram". I'm infatuated with learning this swing. I've bits and pieces that I've picked up on his youtube vids but, I can't seem to glue it all together.

Do many of you have a membership to GG? Would you recommend it?

I got it recently too and am happy with the videos. He breaks things down in good detail which doesn’t happen in his free content. He’s also speaking directly to the viewer like typical instructional videos rather than you trying to piece things together.

My only concern is the fact that he’s basically disavowed the site in the last week so I’d be hesitant to do business with the current people. If you’re willing to go for it though, I’d say the content is definitely a big step beyond what you’ll get on YouTube and IG. The Facebook group though seems to have nice folks but you’re not getting feedback from GG even though the account seems to be speaking in his voice which is a bit shady.

There is a new membership site coming up in the next few months so I wouldn’t even bother with the current membership site. The content on there is pretty solid, but if I were you I’d hold off. GG himself has made it public he’s not associated with that site and does not trust the guy running it.

Fish (the guy running the membership site and Facebook) has started ripping gg’s Instagram vids and posting them to the Ggswingtips twitter page. It starting to turn into a messy situation, and personally I have my popcorn ready...because I’m that guy.

As far as gg’s swing method itself, I agree with the posts above, just like any swing it requires maintenance. I’ve been working strictly on gg’s method for a little over a year and I’ve had some great days on the course and not do great days, but isn’t that golf? I have recently though began to start hitting my irons the straightest ever and with a penetrating ball flight. I think one of the most overlooked aspects of gg’s method is how straight you can hit shots with it.

Tips I can give to anyone new to gg’s method:

-loose grip pressure, let your arms feel weightless

-you’ll have to feel as if the pivot is real slow. If you try to speed it up you’ll get shanks, open face, etc

-his exaggeration he tells his player about feeling like the back shoulder and hip getting to the ball before the club head is key

-I also found a stronger grip worked really well for me with this method

Also I was watching the replay on golf channel a little bit ago, it does look like GG changed Adam scott’s posture. He doesn’t look so rigged and more relax...gg’s patented crappy posture if you will.

I also saw Scott get a little out of sync and block some shots out to the right. I know the feeling Adam...it’ll gel together at some point.

Also interesting the group Scott was playing with today, him, bubba and DJ...all of whom have spent time gg!

Unfortunately, Adam Scott missed a 2' on 10 to miss the cut by one.

Maybe some promising full-swing results today after working with GG:

  • +0.719 Strokes Gained Off the Tee (+0.492 in 2017)
  • +1.893 Strokes Gained Approach (+0.453 in 2017)

Unfortunately, he was awful Strokes Gained Around the Green (-2.461) and negative Strokes Gained Putting.

Scotty gone off the boil recently and he obviously realises he needs to use those bigger muscles now! I certainly did notice his posture change, and some pre shot routine had changed...

GG is going places, he has done a lot of hard work on his profile and he has a stable of a lot of good pro's now so I wonder how long it will be before he has to give us on helping hacks. Writing was on the wall a bit when his FB page turned into being run by "endorsed" coaches.

Just shows you what can happen if you work at something.

He f***** up Adam's swing

No Golf Channel for him, no Revolution Golf invite, what could have been.

Maybe he can get a gig at My Swing Evolution, Be Better Golf, or Rebellion Golf now

Hey bro, you got any insights on the GG method, or are you just (weak) trolling?

He's a weak troll and Brenden Devore's personal cheerleader.

I bit the bullet and introduced some of GG's concepts for my 13 yr old son approximately 5 months back after following GG for quite some time. It has taken a few months to start ingraining the ideas and he did see some regression from high 70's average off back tees (13+ go off back tees here in Republic of China). He shot a 95 and a 102 amongst a bunch of high 80's.

The swing changes are slowly bedding in and theres been a very noticeable improvement in his ball striking. To the point where he is going back to spending real time on the short game and putting; whereas it was Faldoesque range sessions most days for past 5 months.

I can say one thing for sure, do the drills and then do them some more. Alot of them seem to be quite counter intuitive. Especially to someone like me who learnt to play with a Nick Faldo/Leadbetter video.

Something I have noticed with G's concepts is that the hands get out too far because he really emphasizes leaving the arms alone.

I've had to work on getting the butt end of my club to my left thigh then let the clubhead move outwards.

Just something to try if you feel like you're hands are too far out.
