The performance is so good with the i e1 I think it would be hard to improve on performance. It makes a lot of sense to focus on appearance enhancements.

I think this rendition will be a good bit more forgiving than the current iE. After all, they created the iBlade that's already as forgiving as the iE, in a smaller package. I believe the MOI of the iBlade is almost equal to the iE in fact. So if they apply that same ability to the new iE replacement, it should be even more forgiving than what it's replacing.

as much as id like the simplicity of the iblade in an iE footprint, hard to blame ping in thinking that for all the golfers out there concerned with a certain look, most of those can take the option of the iblade and be just as happy so if a little more bling moves the iE2 at higher volume in stores, might as well go for it and know the iblade can suffice for those in need of a clean look.

You will not be disappointed. Best looking I series iron ever. Not as smooth, but I'd say a cleaner look. That's all I've got until someone posts pictures.

I'd love to see the new i's look like an s55. Personally I don't mind a bit of detail in the cavity as long as it's simple.

 

Gives the iron a bit of personality IMO.

No. it's an i-series, but not iE2. Not sure where the name of this comes from. And I don't know if I/we are allowed to release the name yet.

Definitely not allowed to give out the name yet. Think of all the plays on the "Eye2" you can and you won't be too far off in the names department... Obviously Chris975d has seen them and can either confirm or deny :happy:

Admittedly, I have not seen the photos... but a friend in the industry has and described them to me and this is as close as you can get without seeing the new I - ...

I heard the new name, but again... I am not going to be the one to release that information. Frankly, who cares what they are called, I would just love to see a darn photo of them. All I heard is that they are clean like the iBlade, but with a little more action in the cavity. Either way, I am sure they are going to be nice.

I had a set of the IE1's and they are sweet, but succumbed to the new iBlades and really like them.

I am sure the new I's are going to be nice! Ping is really releasing some nice equipment!

I think the S55 is the best looking iron Ping has ever made, so as an i series player (i25) I can't wait to see these!
