Stumbled into the my local store and for the first time ever, they had K3 in stock...Noticed the balls were in the same packaging as the recent KP1, which was different than the original boxes of the K-Sig and K3 when first released...Guess the K3 will be sticking around for good or at least until they get the KP1 issues sorted out...

So the 3 piece are in the gold box? In my local one they started stocking the 3 piece, but they are still in the silver box. Pics?

No not the gold box, they're in the blue box which is paper thin like the gold box. Before they had two dz boxes in a big box which was more solid. Point being, they're still producing K3 and don't have a huge supply left over from the first runs like many want to speculate.

I'm still not following. My store had the K3 for the first time when I was in there last week and while I didn't examine closely they appeared to be in the same silver double dozen box. I've never heard of a Kirkland ball in a blue box.

Ok, I accidentally typed blue when indeed the K3 box is silver...Probably had blue on my mind because they were next to a pallet of Callaway Hex in a blue boxes, my bad...So one more time...

Original black K-Sig box same as original Silver K3 box in regards to it having a lid which you could fully remove and access your 2 dz inside....New KP1 boxes were designed differently where the lid did not fully separate, you just peeled back lid to access the 2 dz inside...The new K3 box is designed the same way as the new KP1 boxes...Meaning they're probably procuring more KP3 and it's not going away anytime soon...

Were your KP1 in the gold box bad? Interesting. My gold boxes were exactly the same as the black and silver ones, i.e., they had an outer box. I wonder if the clamshell types were the bad batches maybe?

This is an interesting question. For those of you who have purchased the gold box, would you mind posting the type of box your balls came in (clam shell or two-piece) and whether the balls were damaged? Let's help Costco solve this mystery!

I've gotten them in the past from other butchers and it really is the greatest steak you can by. they're usually 2-3 pounds and look like a slightly thicker flank steak. I would much prefer that to the rolled up sections costco puts out. I've knocked on the window and asked, but they wouldn't sell it to me that way.

Every few years, I get my hands on a friends and family deal at a local meat packing plant. The price of beef has been too high recently, but the last time I did it, I got 2 75lb boxes of Boneless Rib Roasts for about $4.00/pound. It wasn't Prime, but it was waaaaaaaay worth it. 5 Vac packed roasts of varying weights totaling 75lbs. I didn't even think of cutting the cap off in one piece, DAMN! I did have a butcher friend cut a couple into 1.5" steaks though. I was in ribeye heaven for months.

Have the clam shell as well no issues

Will play them again tomorrow, my game is on the decline as I seem to keep losing those every 4 holes lol

Played this weekend and can unfortunately report that I cut 2 balls with probably the crispest wedge shots of the year. One of the shots from about 70 yards spun back about 15 feet and when I marked the ball and picked it up to clean it, the cover was raised and you could see the green core. Pretty much the same story on the other ball too but a shorter shot off hardpan in a trap. These balls came out of the box as opposed to the clam shell. The weather is a bit colder in Chicago with temps in the upper 30's but I'm not thinking that should really have an impact.

When they get the cover issue addressed I'll be back in on these as I still feel they are the best short game ball I've ever played.

While it is a very small sample size, those in this thread who have the clam shell balls have not reported any bad balls, while those with the regular box have reported problems. I wonder if we've solved the problem. If so, Costco should give us all access to any new balls they sell a day before everyone else.
