SRIXON 765 Initial thoughts and pics!

I need to order my set here soon. Had a fitting a couple weeks ago and have just been shopping around. I may have to go back to the shop since the shafts they fit me into isn't an option when you look it up on the Srixon website. The Nippon 980 in a xstiff

The Nippon 980GH DST is a shaft specifically designed for Srixon and is only offered in R or S flexes. As a matter of fact, True Temper has the Dynamic Gold DST for Srixon in Asia (it does have an X-Flex), they also have the 950GH DST Nippon. The classic 950GH shaft is made in an X flex, but almost all OEM's do not offer anything but R and S. So, if you were fit into a 980GH DST X-Stiff shaft, I for one, would like to know where that is because I don't think it exists.

The DST I believe stands for "Dual Speed Technology" and is specific to Srixon where they move the balance point of the shaft up toward the grip and generally use heavier iron heads. Theory suggests this creates more consistent loading and contact as well as added speed in the swing for more distance.

It was at a local store called Foxy Golf in Canton, OH. I am going to call them and question them on the fitting.

Debating dropping my 716cb/mb combo for a set of z945's.

Hit the z965 in golf town and loved them. Can just get the 945's cheaper

Bought a new driver and now the whole bag is on the verge of getting flipped!!!!!

74-71-71 so far in 2017 with new z945s. HCP dropping fast. Great blades. 2.0 to a trending 1.2. Thanks srixon for making some great looking and performing clubs.

Can you compare the sole of the 45 vs. 65? Also the position of the weight in terms of your swing and general impact area?

I've never hit the 65's but I can tell you I'm definitely more center heel on my iron strikes. Srixon states the 65's are more toe friendly so they wouldn't be as effective for me. Good luck.

I've had the 765's in the bag for about 5 months now. Been using them from on every type of turf (From tight Los Angeles fairways, to Florida, Palm Springs etc..) Having had most of the irons at one point or another, these are simply my favorite ever. Feel is amazing, very forgiving!, hit from any type of lie...

most impressive to me is my miss is at times I can "come up/out of a swing" and they truly GO. Will feel it for sure, but will still get out there with minimal loss of distance.

Exactly my thinking as well, having the mass of the weight centered versus out towards the toe makes sense for my swing. Also.. here's some comparison photo's of the z945 vs z765 (both are 9 irons..)

I came from 2013 Ansers too! I agree that the launch is a little lower but the 765 are a good half club longer and much better in the wind.

I put my Ansers on ebay and they sold in 20mins!

Just got the FedEx update. 765's arrive before end of day tomorrow. It is pouring rain right now but I may need to dig out the rain gloves.

i have a 765 vs 565 demo going on right now and they are both awesome. Probably at this point getting 565 in the 5,6,7 and the 765 in the 8,9,w. Cant got wrong with either but the 565 7 iron goes high, feels good and is very forgiving and looks great. Not sure that was possible

I've been a long-time Club Champion guy and they've been talking about Srixon's since the the 745's came out. Finally decided to pull the trigger on new irons this year and nothing even came close to the -65 series lineup...also awesome that I could do a split set between the 3. If you slapped a [insert big name manufacturer] logo on these they would be at the top every equipment list out there.

Anyone ever demo or hit the Z765 Driver and offer some insight? or the Z745 for that matter. I'm kinda on a Srixon role right now. Played the XV extensively back in 13 and 14 but found better deals on other balls. Looks like I'm becoming a Srixon fan these days. I'd like to see how it would stack up against my LS which has been money for me ever since the G20.

I was thinking about the same setup, but can't decide where to split the set. I've only hit the 6 irons in the store and got lower launch and spin with the Z656, but thinking the 7 Z765 might be better for the conditions I play.

Had a Z745. It doesn't take aback seat to many and felt good. Sold it and went back to my MP 650 Driver and changed it for Miz JPX 900 driver .

Thanks for reply, I just recently got the f45 fairway and was very surprised out how good that was. Very happy with my current set up but definitely going to demo their driver when I can find a place to do it.

Finally got my 765s, and went to hit them today. Absolutely love them, launch is a bit lower than my 2013 Ping Anser/PX5.5 and the feel is incredible.

Anyone wanna buy some 2013 Ansers? haha

What shafts? 3-PW in the 765's or?

Can one get carpal tunnel issues from hitting the refresh button too many times making sure there is no hang up in the FedEx custody chain? If mine get here before dark I will post some initial thoughts vs my current J15 cbs.

Hahahahaha mine are on a FedEx truck for delivery too and I'm doing the same EXACT thing. I'm probably going to leave work the second I see "DELIVERED" so I can hit some balls at my home range. This is my first set of irons without DG in them and I cannot wait!

JUST been for a second fitting at a different place just as a sanity check as I wasn't too sure with the recommendations. Didn't tell the fitter my previous spec. End result, same recommendation as the first.

Was going to order from the first place until he told me the price. 75 GBP cheaper and he would throw in a four ball.

I have about 5 rounds on my 765's. Love them more each round. I'm also now considering the U45/65 for that 215 yd range. Anyone favor one more than the other?

Typically the U45's will have steel shafts (not always.. but the majority of used ones I see are steel) and the U65's are almost all stock with the Miyazaki graphite shafts. I'd think either in the 20° loft would work well. I know that the U45 heads alone can typically be bought for about $60 now, and I don't recall seeing a U65 head only available anywhere yet. Seeing as you like the z765's, maybe go with the U65, even if only to keep the familiarity of the weight mass towards the toe.

Miyazaki graphite X-siff.

The club looks awesome! I've never done well with driving iron type clubs. I haven't had a chance to hit one at the PGASS yet.
