when you look on the srixon website in the custom catalogue at the bottom of their site you can bring up specs on all shafts.

950 GH lists a Mid flight

950 GH DST lists a Mid-High flight

Maybe a little softer shaft or different kick point.

That drove me crazy when I was deciding what shaft to get in mine.

To my best comparison, the 950 GH shafts will be comparable to XP 95's.

I finally got my set out to the range, 765 in 3 and 4 iron. I was really impressed with how easy the 3 iron was to hit with DG X100, very easy to launch. What impressed me the most was the feel, I'm coming from TMB in 3 and 4 irons and they felt very "clicky" compared to the 765s. Pretty impressed with the forged feel of these compared to the TMB, even miss hits didn't feel harsh at all.

PREACH. They feel SO much better than the TMBs.

Guys - I wanted my combo set to work, I really did. I am finding the long irons ballooning, especially in the wind. And an overall distance loss of about a club across the board. Thinking I am going back to my Cally Apexs and then will get fit for PXGs next year.

Are you playing the same shafts in your Apex?

Apex shafts were TT Dynalite Gold XP, Srixon shafts are DG TI AMT.

The 765 are ballooning? Or the 565? What shaft?

Cause I play Apexes right now and I can't even fathom hitting an iron higher than the Apex.

The 565s with the TT DG TI AMT, and less often in the 765s but it has happened.

I might be wrong, but I thought the AMT's in a 3,4,and 5 iron will spin more and launch higher.

Fair point, didn't think the difference would be as dramatic though. Just my $.02. Maybe will get them re-shafted and see.

Very specific question. .....anyone using Z765 irons ,come out of Mizuno mp-59's? Looking for turf interaction in particular very tight lies as I'm a shade inconsistent with 59's .....mostly swing but....

I had a set of MP59 about 3 years ago, and have just got a set of z765 - I therefore haven't hit them side by side, but have owned both.

From what I've found, the z765 have a little more bounce on the sole and therefore don't dig as much. The Srixons are much more forgiving, and I'd say that they are at least one club longer, if not a little more.

I did really like the MP59s, but felt that they didn't give enough help.........the Srixons give you that good looking club, but with a little help too!

Anyone gaming a Z765 3-iron? Review please

Coming from the TMB 3 iron, I'd say feel wise, without question is much improved with the 765. The forging on the 765 alone is worth the switch. I would also say, the 765 3 iron is just as forgiving and launching as the TMB. Mishits aren't punishing or harsh feeling, seeing as how you play the 945's I'm sure this isn't new news to you. I would say its worth a look.

Thanks. Yeah I'm looking to add a 3-iron to swap with current 2 UDI, depending on the course. I think the VT sole would help with contact off the turf too, narrow sole on the UDI. UDI is not too thrilling in the feel department but very reliable off the tee.

Looking at the U65 as well but it's a bit chunky for my eye...always done better with traditional long irons with just a bit of help.

Yeah I agree, I have a U65 18* on my radar once I get distance gaping figured out. I like to have the option to swap them in and out depending on the course. I don't think you could go wrong with either, 765 would be my preference for 85% of the rounds I play.

I thought the DST Nippons were more back-weighted than the regular. Hasn't that been an SRI "technology" for a while?

Thats right the NS Pro 980 DST for Srixon have a balance point slightly closer to the butt end of the shaft!

What is the advantage of balance point closer to the butt? Does it give more kick or less? Would it work for slow swing speed players?
