why is that odd

I think because the 765's are better than all of the gold winner's. Even the new Bridgestone X-CB somehow made the list without being retail distributed, but the J15 CB was nowhere to be found last year. Golf Digest is dying a slow death, their lists are always ridiculous and biased. Every single year, Ping, Titleist, Taylormade, and Callaway receive gold in the players iron section. People have to be a little more perceptive about this nowadays I would think.

What is the Modus3 crowd doing with their wedge shafts?

I play Modus 125 in the irons and went with 125 wedge shafts in 50, 55 (my 60 has a DG TI)

Just picked up a set of 945s with Modus3 130S and was wondering the same thing....

The 945/Modus combo is pretty insane (smooth).

As for wedges, I'm thinking 130S PW shaft in my GW, then perhaps trying an 8 iron shaft (cut to length) in the SW and LW.

Likely pulling the trigger on a set of these soon. I have been thinking HARD about what combo set I should get or just get the 765s all the way through. I initially was going to get 5i (565) 6,7i (765), 8-pw (965). I then thought why get the 565 5 i iron and just make that a 765. Then I thought why not get the 765s all the way through the set. All opinions welcome. My specific question is people who have a combo set with the short irons being 965s. Love them? And for people with the 765s all the way through their set do you love the short irons? I am very much a blade lover but wonder if there is really any difference? Any blade lovers who got 765s and never looked back? either way they all look amazing.

Does anyone know if these irons can be ordered with Project X LZ 5.0 at no upcharge? The LZ is not included in the custom options on the Srixon website, and neither is the DG Pro.

i am having the same problem, i think they are all good. the 765 is so good, why would i get the 565? but im going to demo the 565 tomorrow and they are great also. is the 765 are just as forgiving as the 565, i might get all full set of those. either way u cant go wrong

The 565 have stronger lofts and more offset. If it wasn't for the offset I would have 565 long irons.

I have a set of the 745's and feel they are a top rated iron. 745 was very well recieved on Golfwrx.

Great Golfwrx review on the 2017 srixons.

Srixon i imagine would have tried to improve on the 745's with the release of the 765's.

Golf . com's review of the 745 BOTTOM LINE: The top-rated iron in the better-player category records high scores across the board. Its biggest drawback just might be the lack of name recognition.

Maybe a silver is better than no review at all from Golf digest [no 745 review] Seems funny two 2016 models made the 2017 gold list and a 2017 fully forged [1020] gem from Srixon did not make the Player's category gold list.

About to pull the trigger on some of these irons, I have been fitted and the recommendation is the NS Pro 980GH in stiff which I believe is a version of the 950GH made for Srixon with a slightly different balance point. currently playing R300 TT DG. I am concerned that the NS PRO will spin too much. the course I play on is very windy and I do not want to see my shots ballooning into a wind. I have hit lots of balls with the Z765 head and NS Pro shaft and like the feel of the shaft, but have a nagging doubt over the spin. I was considering the N.S.PRO MODUS3 Tour105 which looking at the Nippon website is Mid Launch Mid Spin.

Can anyone provide any input on these two shafts, Other option was KBS 90, the place I got fitted at did not have this shaft to try.

Thanks

During my fitting I was also fit for the NS Pro 980GH in stiff, mainly due to the reason that I was coming from hitting UST Recoil Prototypes 95g F5 in my Adams XTD Forged heads. I've never been a fan of heavy weight iron shafts. The fitter did not have the Modus3 Tour 105s available in the demo session. I did go with Modus3 Tour 105s instead as I wanted something a bit heavier than the NS Pro 980GH in stiff (which I think is sub-100g) I'm very happy with the Modus3 Tour 105s, and I now have both sets of my z745's and z945's with the Modus3 105s in them.

Additionally, years back when I was playing my Mizuno MX-25's they had the KBS Tour 90's in them, I really liked those shafts as well, although often I would hit them a bit too high, which if you play in windy conditions a lot I'd think wouldn't be the best choice to use.

Holy crap, I had a 7 iron built with Steelfiber 125 and it felt like a tub of country crock. Getting the whole set built. Amazing combo.

Although you didn't hit the two side by side, are you able to compare what the ballflight i.e launch and spin like between the Modus and the 980. I am currently playing DG's which are low launch low spin and have no problems getting the ball in the air, however, I do quite like the feel of a lighter shaft.

Cheers

The fact that they include "name recognition" as a criteria for ranking shows how worthless Golf Digest testing is.

What is the Modus3 crowd doing with their wedge shafts?

Give the modus 125 Wedge shafts a look.

Thanks for the recommendation. I do find it interesting that people are going heavier in their wedges but in the DG world I was always encouraged to go lighter...

They have the Wedge 105, 115 and 125.

Their weights are 111, 122 and 133, respectively.

Sorry, I have no information on that, I hit the 980 as that fitting day I was having issues getting the ball airborne very well, so we kept going lighter. I have since had a refresher lesson with my swing coach and it's sorted out now. I will admit that the Modus3 Tour 105s shafts just feel balanced and easy to hit. Given that my season here in NY ended in October, and I've only been able to hit on a couple local sim's I amd very happy with the results of my z945's with Modus3 Tour 105s distances and trajectories. My "in season" 150 yard club is typically my 9 iron and I have been hitting my z945 9 iron that distance on multiple sims over the last few weeks. I liked the Modus3 Tour 105 so much that I purchased a new in plastic set of z745's and pulled the shafts and sent the heads into Srixon to have them reshafted to the same specs as the z945's (which I also had Srixon reshaft)
