For this ripping his skirt wearing equipment... he's an old school guy, he's probably a low spin swinger (strong reverse c), may need the extra altitude to keep the ball from knuckling out on him.... or he decided that more loft makes it easier to play consistently.

So funny how small timers like us get brand loyal and go 13 sometimes all 14 but pros will go Hodge podge. Tom Lehman was like that for the longest time having all different models of individual irons so his set was truly mixed.

I don t think what clubs he plays matters... he could beat us blindfolded. Carl Petterson was playing XP 95s S300 ... whatever gets it done.

It's not so much that for me...it is that so many higher hdcps are being fit into 8.5 heads that surprises me. If the competent fitter says play a ladies grip and shaft and pink ball to optimal results...I'm driving that bus.

Disagree there. I've played with him in money matches before and he could be the biggest jackass I've ever played with. Not only comes across as a ****** but also a very sore loser. Granted it was several years ago so he could have mellowed but based on my experience he's on Bubba's level of jackassery.

I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with him. I actually know him and he has always been extremely kind and gracious to me. He has been through a lot lately with his wife having breast cancer so maybe you should cut him some slack. Everyone has a bad day.

It may not be the norm for him but it was definitely my experience with him on more than one occasion.

 

Totally agree that everyone has bad days, and I hate what he and his family are having to deal with lately, but this was 8-10 years ago and even prior to winning the Open Championship.

I play that same 3HL and paired with the 757, it's the best 3 Wood I've EVER hit...absolute monster.

To put this skirt non sense to rest. I followed Cink for 5 holes during practice rounds at the Canadian Open this year, he was hitting driver DEEP and hit some phenomenal iron shots out of heavy rough. The HL and lofts just work for him, simple as that, who cares...
